La visita al Frantoio Rosso Ipogeo dà la sensazione di percorrere un viaggio nel tempo: dapprima quando la Puglia era sommersa dal mare fino ad arrivare al secolo scorso, quando veniva prodotto olio d'oliva. Il percorso parte dall'osservazione dei fossili marini incastonati nella roccia calcarea, e attraversa i secoli tardo medievali quando si produceva ed esportava olio lampante in Europa. Si comprenderanno le fasi di produzione e le attrezzature utilizzate all'epoca, per poi concludere con l'ultimo periodo del Frantoio, quando si trasformò la produzione da lucerne e olio lampante, in olio alimentare.

Very, very small. Guided tour with headphones in 10 minutes. There were some nice pictures and a person. A good picture of how things used to go.
So much more than we expected! We appreciated the owner's hard work and research to restore this underground oil mill into a museum. We especially enjoyed his passion for sharing the history with others. The olive oil tasting experience was educational and so delicious!
Great little tour and olive oil tasting at the end. The owner has great passion for olive oil and the making of it. If we were staying longer we would have gone to one of the evenings music events. Nice small tour size.
A beautiful way to bring back to life an old underground crusher. Let yourself be transported by the words of Giuseppe and Samantha in a hidden world that smells of truth and sacrifice and the final tasting teaches us to understand and recognize the different characteristics of 'oil. The tour was booked in German, the guide speaks only English. and Italian. He was trying very hard but unfortunately not what we had booked
