We had an amazing tour of Chichén Itzá with Carlos. He was extremely knowledgeable and shared so many interesting insights about the archaeological site as well as Mayan history and local culture. I traveled with my teenagers and they were fascinated by the entire tour. After visiting Chichén Itzá we swam in a beautiful cenote which was a truly unique experience. My teenagers had a blast jumping into the water from the ropes. We then enjoyed a really delicious lunch in the lovely colonial city of Valladolid. Carlos was also an excellent driver and we felt completely safe and comfortable throughout the day. Everything was very well organized from beginning to end. It was a wonderful and truly memorable day for our family. Highly recommended!
Carlos was awesome. Got us to Chichen Itza early, beat the crowds of buses, walked us through the site, great knowledge of the area. Then we sent to swim in a cenote, which was amazing. By then we were incredibly hot and getting in the water second was the perfect sequence. We then had lunch in Valladolid and walked around the town square a bit. Can’t say enough good things about our guide Carlos. Friendly and knew how to keep things moving so we didn’t sit around and wait.
We had a personable, highly educated and experienced tour guide named Eric. He was actually a historian and high school history teacher in the area. You definitely get a lot of personal attention when you book a private tour such as we did.
Great day trip today! Carlos was a brilliant tour guide, we enjoyed learning about Chichen itsa and then onto to a beautiful Cenote for a swim and a swing! The lunch was authentic and we enjoyed our short walk around town. Highly recommend this trip if your looking for a personalised trip
Carlos was absolutely fantastic and made our day truly special. We traveled with my elderly mother and my 10-year-old son, and Carlos took wonderful care of both of them throughout the entire trip. He was incredibly friendly, kind, and attentive. His explanations were clear and engaging, and he was always happy to answer our questions. Even though we had a tight schedule, he planned everything perfectly and made the most of our time with great attention to detail and experience. What touched us the most was the personal connection he made with our son. Our son plays ice hockey, and Carlos took the time to talk with him and show genuine interest in him. It was such a thoughtful gesture and really made the experience memorable for our family. His English was excellent, and the vehicle was very clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. If we have the chance to visit again, we would absolutely love to have Carlos as our guide again. Highly recommended!
We had the best time learning about the Mayan culture, swimming in a senate and shopping in the town. Roberto was a fabulous guide. He was accommodating, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He was also great with the kiddos.
We had a private car that collected us from our hotel and took us on our excursion. Both the driver of the private minibus and our guide were excellent. Incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful as we have kids with us. It was a seamless experience and I would have no issue in recommending.
The day together was a wonderful experience for the entire family. The service, knowledge and conversations were perfect. It was a day our family would not forget.
Our guide was Eric Danny, he was very knowledgeable and a great conversation in the van. We've done tours before were there's multiple stops to pick people up and you're stuffed in a van for 12 hours. It's not fun. This was worth the money to have the van to ourselves. Plenty of cold water, AC, and extra leg room. Because we were the only pickup, we got to Chichen Itza from Playa in about 2 hours. We arrived a little before they opened, which was awesome because it allows you first access to the temple and the ball court. That's crucial if you're looking to take photos with no one or minimal people in the background. Eric took us through the grounds and unloaded a ton of knowledge about it's history. Once we were done, he gave us some time to walk around and take pictures and buy souvenirs. There are a TON of vendors selling things, so if you get on the fence about buying something, keep walking and think about it. In 4 or 5 more stalls you'll see the same thing. Prices can be haggled and they do take American cash. As we were walking out of the tour, the crowd came in a huge wave of people, around a thousand people. Eric said it's not uncommon for crowds to exceed 5,000 plus. After the tour, we headed to a cenote to swim. This was an equally awesome experience. The water was clean, clear, and cool. I highly suggest finding some way to waterproof your camera or phone, you will want to take pictures down there. We didn't have anything, so all our images stay in our memory. Lockers were not included, so you will have to pay for a locker, or Eric stayed with the van so we just left our stuff with him. After the cenote, we headed to the town (I forgot the name) for lunch. It was authentic Yucatan cuisine, and it was delicious. My only gripe is no beverages whatsoever are included. I knew dessert and alcohol was not included in the price, but water isn't either, so you'll have to pay for your beverage. The town was a little underwhelming, there was not much to see or do in the area of thw San Bernadino Church. That was fine though, by then we were ready to go back to the resort. We ended up back at Playa by 3pm. So overall, it was a great trip, especially if you're not a fan of crowded vans. Thanks again to Eric.
My advice is to enjoy the experience without rushing and follow the guide's recommendations. Arriving early, wearing comfortable clothing, sunscreen, water, and a hat will make the tour much more pleasant.
