10:30 - 12:00 Visita al Memoriale e Museo di Caen, situato nel settore britannico della Sword Beach. Il Museo di Caen è il miglior museo della Seconda Guerra Mondiale in Francia. Avrai una panoramica della battaglia di Normandia e il senso della vita personale delle persone che vi presero parte. Un eccellente film di 19 minuti documenta questa battaglia con filmati storici originali. 12:00 Partenza per Arromanches-les-Bains. Ci vogliono circa 0,5 ore (30 km) sulle strade nazionali che attraversano bellissime campagne e piccoli villaggi.
12:30 - 13:30 Pausa pranzo e visita della città di Arromanches-les-Bains. Arromanches è una piccola cittadina balneare famosa per il suo antico porto artificiale Mulberry. Situato al centro della zona di sbarco britannica di Gold Beach, ha svolto un ruolo inestimabile negli sbarchi del D-Day. Gli Alleati costruirono qui un porto artificiale temporaneo per lo scarico di veicoli, materiali e persone. Mulberry Harbour, entro il 12 giugno 1944, aveva contribuito a portare in Europa 300.000 uomini, 54.000 veicoli e 104.000 tonnellate di rifornimenti.

15:00 - 16:10 Arrivo e visita del cimitero americano e centro visitatori della Normandia, situato a Colleville-sur-Mer e affacciato sulla spiaggia di Omaha. Contiene 9.387 soldati statunitensi, la maggior parte dei quali furono uccisi durante lo sbarco in Normandia e il Muro dei Dispersi con i nomi di 1.557 soldati dispersi in azione. Le scogliere che scendono verso le spiagge contengono i resti delle difese tedesche, comprese casematte di cemento con memoriali ai soldati. 17:30 - 18:30 Arrivo a Pointe du Hoc, una scogliera prominente tra Utah e Omaha Beach. Questo punto era importante perché era il terreno più alto tra le spiagge di Omaha e Utah e poteva quindi sparare su entrambe. Il sito era una batteria di cannoni, fortificata con casematte di cemento e postazioni di cannoni, che faceva parte delle difese del Vallo Atlantico di Hitler. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable. The tour is a long day (14 hours round trip). Our guide had a planned schedule and he was very rigid about the schedule. We had been to Normandy before and it would have been a better day if the guide was more curious when he picked us up to see what would be our most interest since we were building on our past experience.

Very extensive trip. Well worth doing if you want a full day in Normandy. You get to see just about everything!
My husband and I wanted to visit Normandy, particularly the timing for D-Day, since we were visiting Paris. Another tour was booked by us but that provider changed the itinerary at the last minute leaving us in search of a tour for our visit to Normandy. It was frustrating to say the least! Fortunately we found Cyrus at Clewel Travel! I cannot begin to tell you how pleasant and accommodating Cyrus was! He helped arrange our tour showing us all the sites we wanted, was so pleasant and absolutely a wealth of knowledge. We could not have found a better tour! In fact, it was a blessing the other tour changed their program leading us to find the “perfect tour”! And they were far more reasonably priced than their competitor😊😊 Could not have asked for anything more- Cyrus even got us back in time to keep our dinner cruise reservations! We would highly recommend this tour! In fact we were so happy with them we booked a different tour the next day - different guide but same excellent service! Yes - this is the tour / tour company to select if in doubt. You will be delighted that you did💕❤️
Our tour guide Danil knew his stuff and gave a wealth of knowledge regarding that terrible time. The flag ceremony was particularly poignant! Be prepared tho for a lot of walking! I would also give 5 stars to our driver Vadim
We had a spectacular day with David and Vadim. Stay with me while I capture this amazing day in some detail so that you will immediately book with this company! David, our guide, and Vadim, our driver, came to our hotel in advance of our pick up time and were so kind and polite! At 7:30 am, we set off for Caen to begin our tour of the D-Day museums, memorials and sites. The van was spotless and quite comfortable and there were waters waiting for us. The museums we visited were so well done and were rich with history and memorabilia from this important event. The American cemetery left me speechless as did Pont du Hoc. The day moved smoothly and David was very specific at every stop with how much time we had and where to meet. We never felt rushed or confused. David took us to a lovely restaurant with excellent food and very fair prices. While Vadim deftly handled the driving, David shared his incredible breadth of knowledge about not only the D-Day landings but all facets of the war and beyond. It is a long drive to and from Paris but this was an epic day from start to finish and I could not give David and Vadim a higher or more enthusiastic recommendation! Be advised that this tour covers a lot of sites and it is a 14 hour journey but it is so well worth it. This private tour was well worth the cost given the outstanding service that was provided. I look forward to booking with this company in the future.
It was wonderful. The guide was very knowledgeable and he and the driver made the entire experience feel more like a road trip with friends. I couldn’t have been more pleased!!!
The tour was great. The driver and English speaking guide were knowledgeable about Paris and Normandy giving us insight on interesting sites along the way. The timing of the tour had us at the right places at the time. While I would have loved to spend all day at some of the sites, it just wasn’t possible given the amount of time we had to drive. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the highlights in Normandy, but not having the schedule to allow for a slower pace.
David was very knowledgeable and provided extra insight into the museum visits…I really enjoyed the smaller van used to transport us…got to see the real French countryside!
