Viaggio privato al Monastero di Bachkovo e alla Fortezza di Assen

Da Plovdiv ci dirigiamo verso i Monti Rodopi passando per la graziosa cittadina di Assenovgrad. Nelle vicinanze vedremo gli straordinari resti della fortezza del re Ivan Assen, un saggio sovrano del Secondo Regno bulgaro. Lì troveremo un'antica chiesa risalente al XIII secolo dipinta con alcuni pezzi autentici di iconografia e l'iscrizione su pietra scolpita dal re Ivan Assen. Successivamente andremo più in profondità nei Monti Rodopi verso il pittoresco monastero di Bachkovo. Il chiostro è il secondo più grande della Bulgaria, fondato nel 1083 e uno dei luoghi più sacri della storia bulgara. Possiamo fermarci lungo la strada se lo desideri. Itinerario
All'interno del monastero visiteremo la chiesa principale della Vergine Maria costruita nel 1604 dove è conservata una preziosa icona della Vergine Maria del 1310. Secondo la leggenda, questa straordinaria icona è miracolosa. Annessa alla chiesa della Vergine Maria vedremo la Chiesa degli Arcangeli risalente al XII secolo. Il refettorio del monastero è un altro gioiello del complesso che ha conservato murali colorati del 1643. Insieme all'affresco del giorno del giudizio, saremo testimoni delle immagini di alcuni santi monaci, filosofi e scrittori antichi come Socrate, Aristotele, Diogene e molti altri. Il murale panoramico sulla parete esterna del refettorio rappresenta una veduta a volo d’uccello del monastero con tutti gli edifici circostanti all’epoca del dipinto – 1846.
Nelle vicinanze vedremo gli straordinari resti della fortezza del re Ivan Assen, un saggio sovrano del Secondo Regno bulgaro. Lì troveremo un'antica chiesa risalente al 13° secolo dipinta con alcuni pezzi autentici di iconografia e l'iscrizione su pietra scolpita dal re Ivan Assen. L'ingresso è di 4 lv per gli adulti e 2 lv per i bambini

It was a nice drive out of Plovdiv to visit an historic monastery and ruins of a fortress. The drive & sightseeing can be done in 2 to 3 hours max.
Great guild and a great time. The views were so beautiful and we had plenty of time to see it all. Definitely recommend!
Great trip - lovely sites, really beautiful. The monastery reminded me of Rila but more intimate. The fortress is steep but if you’re fit you’ll enjoy the church and surroundings. Lovely frescos and icons

Me and my husband spent some wonderful hours of the day visiting Bachkovo Monastery and Asen's Fortress. The monastery felt so peaceful and full of history - I could've stayed there for hours. When we arrived at Asen's Fortress we admired the stunning views. Definitely make your way to the top — the stairs only look scary, but they’re really not that bad! Just a short drive om Plovdiv, but it felt like a different world. Our driver made the trip even more fascinating with his stories. It's totally worth it!

Our guide was nice and polite but didn’t explain much about the fortress and church that we visited. We wish we would have learned some of the history of these amazing spots.
