L'Aga Khan Palace è un monumento nazionale del movimento per la libertà dell'India. Costruito nel 1892 dall'Imam Sultan Muhammad Shah Aga Khan III, il Palazzo fu testimone di alcuni eventi straordinari che definiscono il movimento di libertà dell'India contro gli inglesi. Gandhiji, sua moglie Kasturba Gandhi e il suo segretario Mahadevbhai Desai furono imprigionati qui durante il movimento Quit India nel 1942. Visitiamo un Dargah di 700 anni a Khedshivapur. È magnificamente costruito con marmo bianco makrana con testo del Sacro Corano. Questa dargah è associata al mistero di una pietra levitante. La leggenda vuole che 11 persone possano mettere un dito ciascuna sotto la pietra, gridare il nome di Hazarat Kamar Ali Darvesh e sollevare la pietra. Si alza, volando da 10 a 11 piedi in aria! In questo tour di Pune visiteremo successivamente il Dutt Mandir a Narayanpur. Questo è un antico tempio di Lord Dattatreya. La caratteristica unica del tempio Narayanpur Datta è che di solito Lord Datta è raffigurato con tre facce, tuttavia, in questo tempio, ha una sola faccia. Il dio è raffigurato con sei braccia che reggono Dhamaru (strumento musicale sacro), Shakha (conchiglia), Chakra (un'arma sacra), Rudraksha Mala, Kamandalu (pentola sacra), Kaumodaki Gada (mazza) e una mano in Abhaya Mudra.
Dopo pranzo, visitiamo il famoso tempio Balaji a Narayanpur come ultima destinazione in questo tour di Pune. È una replica del famoso tempio Balaji di Tirupati nel sud dell'India, che è il tempio più popolare dell'India in termini di passi di pellegrini. Il tempio di Tirupati è anche la seconda istituzione religiosa più ricca del mondo dopo il Vaticano. Tutte le cerimonie sono fatte come al sud. Wonderful guide (Koustubh - friendly, knowledgeable, very capable) to show us the sites and also a great person to discuss ideas with…..so rare these days! Nothing was rushed despite the long day, and he helped us skip lines in the busiest of places. We felt slightly guilty at this, but there would be no way to see these places if we queued with everyone else. Our driver was also the best we had in India! ( if you’ve been you’ll know how CRAZY the driving is!) The one star removed was for the price ….compared to everything else we have in India, this is on the expensive side, but still a great experience.
This was my second tour with Five senses and this was also equally an enchanting experience. We visited 2 temples, a Islamic place or worship and a palace. This was an incredible tour away from the city into the real India. We met many friendly people . Our guide vikas helped us understand all the complex rituals! It was an awesome day.

I arranged a solo tour as I had a day spare on a business trip. I thought I’d get out and experience the sights and sounds of Pune while was here. Trip was arranged with no fuss, I had guides name, contact details and time of pickup sent to my phone..easy! Pickup punctual and spent a lovely time visiting wonderful temples and places of historical interest. Had a lovely meal and nothing was too much bother for the guide and his driver. They always checked that I was ok which was reassuring for a stranger in a strange land!
