Venice: The Hidden Canals on an Electric Boat

Our guide was not great. He spoke little English, couldn’t understand the questions we were asking and gave very little context into what we were seeing. He pointed out random things with no details. For example, “Garden.” “Church.” In addition, he smoked several cigarettes during the tour. We also got pulled over by the water police and he got a ticket for being in one of the canals where they didn’t allow commercial vehicles. It was all rather comical. I would recommend this to her. If there was a guy that was English speaking like it was advertised, but we learned very little. However, the hidden canals were very interesting. It would just have been nice to have somebody who had historical knowledge and had passion for communicating information.

Excellent tour of Venice! The guide was so kind, understandable, and knowledgeable! The electric boat was comfortable and quiet! We felt like we saw all of Venice effortlessly. Highly recommend!

Our tour guide was phenomenal. He was very knowledgeable and did a great job at answering everyone's questions. We were able to see so much of Venice that we couldn't see any other way.

Covered a large area of Venice. Guide was very nice but very young, I wish he would of talked a little more and told us more about this beautiful city but overall, good.

What a cool experience, quietly boating through the smaller canals of Venice! And Donato, our charming guide, shared interesting insights and history through the entire tour. The pickup point was a seemingly random spot (no office/store front), but then we saw the boat dropping a group off. Taking the 6pm slot gave us an incredible sunset! Would HIGHLY recommend!

Taking a gondola ride is about 90 Euros for 30 minutes. This experience is close to that price, but you’ll go as a small group for 90 minutes. Forget the vaporetto, that’s for necessary journeys only and the view is terrible except for a lucky few by the windows. It could be better, though. Our guide was a bit grouchy since he hadn’t eaten since 9am for our 2pm tour, with several more tours to go. We offered to help with boat lines since we are both experienced sailors, but he was determined to hit the posts and walls on his own. He really doesn’t like women helping either. Highlights are limited to “This building is _______”, etc. It’s great as a scenic boat ride, but little else. I still think it was worth it, and you can read about Venice’s history on your own time. Bring a brim hat, parasol, or umbrella as there is no cover from the elements.

Bonato was very good - he pointed to a lot of interesting spots and drove the boat keeping our comfort in mind. The trip was awesome.
