In nessun posto in Slovenia ci sono così tanti (resti di) castelli e manieri quanti sono nel bacino idrografico di Savinja. Le ragioni di ciò si possono trovare in diversi fatti. In primo luogo è importante sottolineare che fino al 1140 questo era il centro di Savinja margraviate, che molti beni furono acquistati dai vescovi della Carinzia di Krško e, ultimo ma non meno importante, che molte famiglie nobili si stabilirono in questa zona. Tra questi, i più importanti erano certamente i potenti conti e principi di Celje.

I castelli sono il riflesso di un'epoca, tuttavia le persone in diversi periodi li hanno accettati e percepiti in modo molto diverso, proprio come la vita ha sempre nuove forme. Castelli e manieri hanno, con il loro straordinario passato e presente, sempre preso in giro l'immaginazione umana. Diverse storie si intrecciano sui castelli, soprattutto sui loro abitanti, che in seguito sono stati cambiati dal popolo e sono stati raccontati ai loro discendenti fino ad oggi. E a causa di tutte quelle storie e leggende sui castelli e sui loro abitanti che sono state mantenute dalla tradizione popolare, possiamo ancora (magicamente) rivivere il passato delle rovine per lo più del castello, che ancora audacemente e con orgoglio stanno sui clifs e ci ricordano di la loro antica gloria. Così sono state raccontate molte storie e leggende sull'antico castello di Celje, sul castello inferiore, sui conti e sui principi di Celje e sulla gente di Teharje. A beautifully located castle with some excellent architectural ( modern) interpretations. Atmospheric & informative. Nice cafe.
A very beautiful day trip with your family, small kids or big it doesn't matter. Especially a great experience in the old print factory.

Well preserved medieval castle. Very interesting visit and spectacular views from the viewpoint and the tower. You can see all of Celje and its surroundings. It is worth the visit and the 7 euros it costs to enter.
Beautifully preserved castle on top of a mountain. Very nice views. On some days there are activities in the castle, but this was not during our visit.
It’s a nice option after the hike but you can also go by car, of course. The castle is well maintained and organised. The staff at the reception is kind and attentive. Different places and rooms with great views from the town of Celje. Some information about the history of the village and a nice cafeteria for an espresso.
Beautiful old castle with a lot of history. It used to belong to a powerful house of Grofje Celjski and it shows. It is placed above old city center of Celje which offers scenic views of Celje and its sourroundings. A must visit if you are around!
Was visiting this castle with my Erasmus programme. We had a lovely visit and guide was very good at explaining and answering the questions. However, tour was shorter than I expected.
Visited the Castle on a gorgeous sunny day and it was just wonderful You get a great feeling of medieval times and the walk ways between some of the buildings make you feel like you are on the set of a Game of Thrones episode Fabulous views from the top of the tower and really good information about the castle Nice little cafe at the entrance which is nice at the end, especially if the the weather was hot, like on our visit Well worth the €15 for a family of 4 !
Nice and beautiful castle with a cozy bar with small playground on. Beautiful view of the city. Not a super long visit, but for what you pay there definitely worth stopping.
