Il nostro fantastico tour inizia a Torres de Serranos, dove ci incontreremo per fare un'introduzione alla storia di Valencia, parlando dell'antica porta principale delle mura medievali, della connessione con il fiume Turia e delle diverse mura che aveva Valencia.

Conosciuta come la "Cappella Sistina valenciana", San Nicolás è uno dei templi più belli della città, con quasi 2.000 metri quadrati di affreschi perfettamente restaurati che lasciano senza fiato i visitatori. Gli spettacolari dipinti che decorano la volta rappresentano il doppio della superficie degli affreschi della Cappella Sistina a Roma. Con più di 700 anni, San Nicola, già luogo di culto in epoca romana prima di essere moschea e poi chiesa cristiana, è un chiaro esempio di convivenza perfetta tra un tempio dalla struttura gotica e una splendida decorazione barocca.
È un sorprendente edificio gotico che inserisce la città di Valencia nell'elenco dei siti del patrimonio mondiale. Non è facile vedere grandi edifici civili di architettura gotica, che nel nostro immaginario abbiamo più legato alle grandi cattedrali dell'Europa centrale e meridionale. Per questo motivo nel 1996 la Lonja de la Seda è stata dichiarata Patrimonio dell'Umanità dall'UNESCO. Questo organismo internazionale giustifica la dichiarazione perché è un esempio eccezionale di gotico civile e rappresenta la forza del commercio nelle città mediterranee durante il tempo della sua costruzione. Fu costruito in soli 15 anni durante il XV secolo. Entreremo per scoprire perché era così importante con la seta.
Costruito su un antico tempio romano che fu poi una moschea. Nella Cattedrale di Valencia osserviamo numerosi elementi di epoche diverse, dal romanico al barocco. La costruzione iniziò nel XIII secolo, avendo numerose riforme nel corso dei secoli troviamo questo edificio monumentale. Sapevi che il Santo Calice si trova nella Cattedrale di Valencia? E che ospita anche una delle opere pittoriche più importanti del primo Rinascimento spagnolo? Storia e arte si mescolano nella Cattedrale. Le sue mura e le sue porte proteggono anche tesori preziosi come il Santo Calice. Molti studi pensano che il Graal di Valencia sia quello che Gesù usò nell'Ultima Cena. Pertanto, i Papi Giovanni Paolo II e Benedetto XVI hanno usato questa reliquia nella celebrazione dell'Eucaristia durante le loro visite a Valencia. Un altro dei gioielli della cattedrale sono gli affreschi rinascimentali dell'altare maggiore della cattedrale di Valencia, riscoperti dieci anni fa quando è stata rimossa la volta barocca che li copriva.

Excellent tour. Found out lots about the sights and Valencia from Paolino. The entrances to the monuments are included which is really good especially on a hot day and you see the long queues waiting in the sun. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed this visit. Sonia (the guide) explained everything very well, and if you asked her something, she would respond with a thorough explanation without getting annoyed. Moreover, she is very friendly and accompanied us to the heart of Valencia, also telling us about the typical festival of Las Fallas (I am not sure if it is spelled this way). Even though she is Valencian, she spoke Italian well. I highly recommend it; I hope you get Sonia as your guide.

Value was good considering we gained entry to multiple spots we would have had to otherwise wait in line and purchase admission separately for. The tour felt long with a bit of time waiting around that seemed it could have been maximized since there is so much to see in Valencia. We could not hear or understand our guide and left us feeling like we didn't learn much and made the overall experience unengaging. Directions to meetup were unlcear as the meeting point is a rather large area with multiple tours meeting in one spot. We did look frantically for the white sign with blue ribbon and could not find our group and were nearly left behind, along with another group of 3 that was lost too - for a total of 7, or half the group, almost left behind and then started without. Our guide also left people behind in the bathroom after encouraging a stop, then continuing on without the people who chose to use the restroom. Overall, I am happy we went simply for the expedited access, but everything else left a lot to be desired. I was hoping to learn more about the city and the history.

We wanted to get an overview of the city history and sites. Catalina was an awesome guide. She was very knowledgeable about the sites we visited and truly cared about what we were learning and seeing. I highly recommend her and the tour. Was great to skip the lines at all the venues. Highlight was the light show at St Nicholas church. To note - we did the tour on a Sunday so the Central Market was closed. Not a big deal cause we went back another day.

Beautiful and informative tour! Each of the sites were spectacular. City center in Valencia is lovely. Guide was knowledgeable and answered everyone’s questions. It would have been helpful if the guide wore a speaker and we had headsets. At times it was difficult to hear what he was saying at when he turned to whatever we were viewing.

Well done. Our guide was very excellent and gave a great experience. We had a financial issue with our payment since there was a slight itinerary change that had to be resolved the day prior. The tour operator was prompt at taking care the issue with several last minute emails.
