Il massacro di Srebrenica, noto anche come il genocidio di Srebrenica, è stato il genocidio del luglio 1995 di oltre 8000 bosniaci, principalmente uomini e ragazzi, dentro e intorno alla città di Srebrenica durante la guerra in Bosnia. Le uccisioni sono state perpetrate da unità dell'esercito serbo bosniaco di Republika Srpska (VRS) sotto il comando di Ratko Mladić. Sarai in grado di capire la caduta della Jugoslavia, come e perché è avvenuto il massacro.

La città di Srebrenica si trova a circa due ore e mezza dalla città di Sarajevo. Mentre sarai in grado di goderti lo scenario, inizieremo la nostra presentazione con storie dettagliate, ordinate cronologicamente in modo da poter comprendere una complessa questione di "guerre jugoslave" che è cruciale per la tua comprensione del genocidio di Srebrenica. La nostra prima fermata è di fronte alla fabbrica di batterie, utilizzata dalle forze dell'ONU durante la guerra in Bosnia. Nel precedente quartier generale del battaglione olandese si trova ora uno dei musei più moderni della Bosnia ed Erzegovina, il "Museo del genocidio di Srebrenica". Lì incontreremo il curatore e sperimenteremo in prima persona la storia della sopravvivenza nell'enclave di Srebrenica. Il museo è dotato di strutture multimediali con selezione di film, che ti aiuteranno a comprendere gli eventi che hanno portato al peggior massacro in Europa dalla seconda guerra mondiale. Dal Museo del genocidio di Srebrenica, proseguiamo per la sala del Memoriale, dove potrai ascoltare le storie delle vittime che sono state fatte da un giornalista locale. Le vittime trovate e identificate riposano nel cimitero commemorativo. Una volta che abbiamo visitato il Potocari Memorial Center, continuiamo il nostro viaggio verso la città di Srebrenica. Un tempo il leader industriale nella zona è ora una città fantasma. Srebrenica è anche la location per il pranzo, in quanto non ci sono molti ristoranti nelle vicinanze del Potocari Memorial Center.

Kenan was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. He was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about making sure we had the best possible experience. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and his local knowledge really added something special to the trip. He took the time to explain the places we visited, answered all our questions and made us feel completely comfortable throughout. He was punctual, patient and incredibly helpful, and we never felt rushed at any point. What really stood out was the personal attention he gave us. It felt much more like travelling with a knowledgeable local friend than simply having a guide. His warmth, professionalism and attention to detail made the whole experience memorable. A visit to Srebrenica is essential to understand what happened there in July 1995. You visit the memorial and the interpretation center-museum, located in the old warehouses where the Dutchbat troops were stationed, in Potočari, right in front of the memorial. All the documentary information about those tragic events is there. Regarding the visit, there is a flaw in what is offered versus reality: it is true that they pick you up and drop you off at the hotel (in our case, Kenan was the guide). But no water or snacks are offered, nor were we in a vehicle with a Wi-Fi connection, just as is advertised. In short, the visit is a must so as not to forget how far human evil can go.
Great tour, very emotional and informative. A must when in Bosnia! Kenan was an amazing guide. He answered all our questions and even gave us recommendations on where to go in Sarajevo. Highly recommended!

Keenan was a very considerate and knowledgable host. He answered any questions we had fully. It’s quite a difficult trip but we felt it was important to be aware and pay our respects to the fallen.
The museum was located at the former UN Dutch Battalion Headquarters. The exhibition is well designed. Worth a visit if you are interested to learn about the atrocities that took place in July 1995. A special thanks to our guide Kenan, who is very helpful and happy to answer all our questions.
It was a great experience, with good knowledge from the tour guide. I did have to contact the tour operator to confirm my pick-up location. Overall, a recommended trip.
