Il Colosseo Nero, tutto da esplorare sotto la città moderna!
Uno dei luoghi più suggestivi di Catania. Un’antichissima grotta di scorrimento lavico, riutilizzata già in epoca greca come cisterna e poi come sepolcro catacombale dai romani. Per la tradizione fu il luogo della prima deposizione di sant’Agata, sul quale poi sorse una chiesetta già nel 262. Oggi la cripta conserva ancora i resti di antichi affreschi e decorazioni scolpite direttamente nella viva roccia
L’Amenano, misterioso fiume sotterraneo che si snoda sotto il centro storico di Catania, originariamente scorreva in superficie alimentando il lago di Nicito. Nel corso dei secoli eruzioni, sismi e guerre hanno modificato non soltanto l’urbanistica della città, ma anche il suo aspetto naturale. Visiteremo una suggestiva grotta di scorrimento al cui interno scorre ancora un ramo del fiume

Matilda was wonderful and knowledgeable guide. Her love of Catania and her job really showed through on our tour! I would highly recommend this tour and especially on a Sunday as one of the sites is only open on that day.

Excellent guide who used his experience as an archeologist to really bring the tour alive. As well as very interesting information about the places we saw, he also shared with us the tastes of local history through food and drink that he bought for us at local venders. I would thoroughly recommend this tour for a real flavour of Catania

You will see underground Roman amphitheater which will is very impressive. But could do this in your own for a 4 euro entrance fee. Mathilda was very nice and knowledgeable but there are placards that explain everything. The other 2 places were caves nothing overly impressive and 1 euro entrance fees. We were treated to a typical Sicilian street food and water plus a granita type drink. Definitely not worth the cost of the tour

Underground Catania was the best way to experience and learn about the history, architecture, and culture of the city. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Catania for the first time!

It was a very knowledgeable tour guide who had a lot of passion of the subject, which we really enjoyed! Mathilde was great at answering all questions and always pointed at the most interesting aspects of the buildings/caves…etc. it is not a tour fully underground, but you’re visiting three separate underground locations. It is a great tour with a fantastic tour guide! Very highly recommend!
