Itinerario

I really didn’t like the Soweto market tour especially on foot. Wans too happy about the tour of Soweto market in the bus either. I lived in Lusaka for 20 years in the 60’s and 80’s and never went to the Soweto market because it’s dirty and chaotic! I brought family and friends to Zambia to visit and this was definitely not what I wanted to show them!! Very disappointing. I feel like you should remove that part of the tour and the food in the market that we were supposed to try. There are many places in Lusaka that offer Zambian traditional food and that is not a place to take foreigners. Flies everywhere, dirty and people trying to make money from us. Didn’t feel safe at all in both places. I understand you want to show the culture and traditions of Zambian people but that is not the way. Too expensive for dirty parts of Lusaka to be shown this way. Lusaka has many other beautiful places to show and these were not the places. I may sound snooty and I mynot live in Zambia anymore but the first 20 years of my life were spent in Zambia and so I consider myself to be Zambian and this was very embarrassing to show my family and friends to whom I talked about Zambia being so clean and beautiful. Please try to show the best parts of Lusaka and not the dirty and chaotic and unsafe places to foreigners. No one wants to be an area where they have live chickens and Kapenta and flies everywhere! The museum was the best part and the elephant orphanage was amazing!! Please don’t change that part of the tour.
The visit to the market place was terrible and basically dangerous. The "market place" was absolutely filthy, overflowing with years of trash. We were warned by our guide that as non blacks we needed to be very careful and our presence in this area was not welcomed. We were basically taken to a third world slum that was dangerous to be in. The remainder of the tour was fine. The elephant orphanage was very nice with friendly staff and educational.
We are sorry to read this review, as it does not reflect our tours or the experience of the vast majority of our guests. First, at no point has any of our guides ever told guests that they were unwelcome because of their race or that Lusaka is unsafe for non-Black visitors. This statement is completely false and does not represent our company or our guides. Zambia is well known for its friendly and welcoming people, and tourism is warmly embraced throughout the country. The local market is one of the highlights of this experience for most of our guests. If you take the time to read our genuine reviews, you will see that the market visit is consistently mentioned as one of the most authentic and memorable parts of the tour. It offers visitors a real insight into everyday life in Lusaka, which is exactly what many travelers are looking for. We are also unable to verify this review. We have no record of a guest with the name "Philip" joining this tour. Unfortunately, platforms sometimes allow reviews to be posted without sufficient verification that the tour was actually taken, which can unfairly damage the reputation of small local businesses that work hard to provide authentic and high-quality experiences. We welcome honest feedback and are always looking to improve. However, we also believe it is important that reviews are truthful and accurately reflect what actually happened. To our future guests: Lusaka is a vibrant, welcoming city, and we look forward to sharing its history, culture, and people with you.
We had a great day in Lusaka with Petros! He was very flexible regarding our suggestions and we were able to spend our time just in the city as we wished rather than going to the elephants. Highlight for me was the big Soweto market, such a variety of produce and fascinating to get local interaction with the safety of a guide. For lunch we had delicious Zambian barbecue with nshima, beans and vegetables. The museum was also better than expected. We were lucky to have Rachel as our guide here, who took us through the twists and turns of Zambian history and culture. Petros drove us around some more landmarks of Lusaka before dropping us back at our hotel. If you have a free day in Lusaka I recommend this tour to experience a different side of the country.

Petrus and Natasha were phenomenal guides, friendly, accommodating, and extremely knowledgeable. It was a great glimpse of Lusaka history, culture, and people. This is a great tour for folks who may be intimidated by the city - but value a sense of place and inclusion. Highlights were the market and lunch! Would recommend to others visiting the area.

I did this tour with my partner and it was honestly such a great day. We felt completely safe the whole time, which was really important for us, and everything was just easy and stress free from start to finish. Petros took care of absolutely everything, from driving to navigating the busy areas and organising tickets, so we could just relax and enjoy it. Even in places like Soweto Market, which is pretty bustling with vendors everywhere, we felt comfortable and could properly take it all in. The itinerary is really well put together. You get a bit of everything, local markets, culture, the national museum, and the highlight for us was definitely seeing the baby elephants. Such a special experience. We also loved stopping by the nursery and checking out local crafts. If you’re in Zambia and want a tour where you don’t have to worry about anything, this is such a good option. Perfect for anyone wanting to see a lot in one day without the hassle.

It's one of our favourite places because it offers such an authentic glimpse into everyday life in Lusaka, and we're delighted you were able to experience its vibrant atmosphere with confidence. We're also thrilled that the baby elephants were a highlight of your day—they're always special to visit, no matter how many times we go! Very nice day visit of Lusaka with Petros and Natasha - no need to take care of anything, they do it all for you! I got to visit the market (and buy locally made peanut butter and round nuts, which I love), see the baby elephants and the white rhinos at the Lusaka national park, eat nshima, visit the musuem and an artsinal village. Thanks a lot to both of you!
