We were lucky to have Lada as a guide who conveyed to us through her stories and her knowledge the importance of this tunnel and how they lived during the war.
Would not recommend to others. Don't miss the fine print that the tunnel.ticket is not I cluded in the price, so this is basically a really expensive taxi to the tunnel and back. We watched a short movie at the office for context about the siege. Got on the bus, 45 minutes there (45 minutes back), the guide did provide commentary. Initially this was ok interest but I zoned out when he started talking about people who played for the Bosnian football team and the recent world cup. At the tunnel itself, you watch about video, no commentary, the walk through about 100m of tunnel recreated for tourists. Then you leave. It was underwhelming. Would have been better to go to one of the museums instead. If we had known we'd have visited the tunnel with our own car and got just as much out of it for $80 less.
This tour was given to us by a real local who experienced the war himself and even helped in the tunnel. That makes his stories incredibly personal and impressive. He takes you in a van to various places and tells you what it was like to live during the war. The way he describes how people lived like "rats in a trap" every day and was a roulette every day and how shelling seemed almost like a game to the others makes a deep impression. This is without a doubt the most impressive tour I have ever done. The stories, emotions and personal experiences of our guide make this tour unforgettable. He'll be with me for a long time. If you are visiting Sarajevo, this is an absolute must as far as I am concerned.
I’m so glad I went on this tour, it was an invaluable experience and a privilege to learn so much from a local who lived through these events firsthand. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sarajevo, as it’s something I’ll never forget. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and more than happy to answer all of our questions, making the experience even more meaningful.
Truly and unforgettable experience, our favourite thing we did in our whole Balkans trips. Sarajevo has some insane and disturbing history and this tour is not afraid to dig into it. Our tour guide lived through the siege and his knowledge and stories will stay with us forever.
We did the Tunnel of Hope tour with Nermin, who is incredibly knowledgeable. He spoke from first hand experience in having survived the siege and his commitment to telling the story of the Sarajevan spirit was magnetic.
Good tour about the history of the tunnels. Tour guide was excellent, professional with good knowledge.
A sad but necessary tour to hear about the, quite frankly, horrendous history of the country and what the people went through. It was well organised and we also saw a video first to help set the scene and give context. These types of tours are always heart breaking but understanding the history is so important. Our tour guide had been a soldier in the war, which added extra depth and realism to the history he talked us through. I will never understand how people can do such harm to others.
We got the Italian tour with Mirha and she was very knowledgeable and a perfect guide, highly recommended as she perfectly illustrated the context and meaning of the tunnel
They will see our highly prepared guide, who lived through those terrible years of an unjust war that killed so many people and children, explaining while being available for questions.
