This is well worth the time and money! Absolutely fascinating to see and we learned so much. I figured we’d spend an hour or two at Tower of London, but we were there for 3-4 hours! I appreciated the advice from others to go as soon as it opens and see the Crown Jewels first because the lines and crowds are insane later. The beefeater tour is also cool and included with your ticket. Ask someone where to go to find the starting point (it wasn’t obvious to us) and try to stand close to the guide. They don’t seem to cap group sizes and it’s hard to hear if you’re standing towards the back of the group.
We really enjoyed our visit here and the Yeoman tour was excellent, a real highlight of the trip. The Crown Jewels visit was also very interesting and all parts of the tower have their quirks and interest. We really enjoyed the visit in total, an essential viewing microcosm of the nation’s history. Upon entry, for a visitor, there is absolutely no sign of where to go or what to do. We joined the queue past the Ravens on entry only to find out our ticket doesn’t include the audio guide. We knew that but ultimately were not sure where to go and order of events and I’d say 75% of people entering are the same. We knew (!) we had a guide book so went to collect that and the nice lady in the gift shop filled in the blanks for us. You can go anywhere, in any order, but go and see the Crown Jewels first because it gets busy. The venue needs a suggested route/tour/guidance upon entry because by the time we left approximately 1230pm, the place was absolutely heaving and I don't think you’d be able to see anything past then. In fact the White Tower, our last location was so busy that we literally couldn’t see anything and leaving it down the winding stairs was actually pretty dangerous given the huge amount of people waiting and shuffling forwards at any one time. I’m sure for fire Regulations you need to know how many people are in a building at any one time, as no one was counting us in or out, I don’t believe it was safe or compliant. Add to that whilst queuing to get out of the White Tower, a blissfully unaware American chap who thought that Henry VIII had fought the Vikings, and it was evident that he hadn’t seen anything in the White Tower either.
Do not book with this third party company. You will pay twice or even 3 times more. Be careful and don’t pay more than what the tour should cost. The visit to Tower of London is worthwhile and seeing the Crown Jewels should not cost anything extra. They will not refund you. We feel cheated.
Arrive early to the meeting point. Take your time. So much to see. Could have spent 4 hours exploring the different areas. Amazing history and the staff is well informed. They are willing to shate stories and answer questions about the tower. Also, eat before you enter. Their cafeteria menu was ok, but a bit pricey. There are coffee carts & snacks available to hold you over. Highly recommend.
this was not a tour, it was the ticket to get in then you had to pay for your audio tour and it was a long line to do that too. the place was interesting but I wish we had a tour person with us.
Way to crowded- you over sold tickets and left us with poor experience This was our 3rd (and last) time!
We had a great tour with Tam! He made sure everyone felt included, and the tour was both interesting and informative. We really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it. ☀️
An experience not to be missed, loved the history and staff were welcoming. Arrived early- queue didn’t take long to go down.
Tower of London did not accept my tickets from Viator. I have requested a refund. I was forced to purchase new tickets from the ticket office.
This was extremely interesting and impressive. We did not climb up the stairs in the tower due to mobility issues, but we did see the Crown Jewels. I was looking forward to seeing necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings that were dripping precious gemstones, but sadly they weren’t there. A guide explained that the decadent tiaras and jewels are privately owned by members of the royal family and hence, are not on display. The Crown Jewels on display were crowns, scepters, the orb held during coronations, swords, and a less impressive ring that belonged to Queen Victoria. It was a nice half-day activity.
