La città di Colonia del Sacramento, capoluogo del dipartimento di Colonia, si trova tra le 2,5 e le 3 ore in auto dalla capitale del paese, Montevideo. Tieni inoltre presente che, trattandosi di un tour giornaliero, verso mezzogiorno già nella città di Colonia del Sacramento e a metà del tour, i passeggeri avranno tra 1,5 e 2 ore libere per il pranzo. Visita all'unica arena esistente in Uruguay, inaugurata nel 1910. Dopo anni di abbandono, è stata ristrutturata e restaurata, per essere riaperta nel 2021 come centro di intrattenimento e museo.
L'insegna di Colonia, affacciata sul fiume, è una tappa obbligata per i turisti con una splendida vista sulla costa e su parte della città. Un posto speciale per scattare foto.
La Puerta de la Ciudadela segna l'ingresso all'antica città coloniale. Costruito per la fondazione della città nel 1680 da parte dei portoghesi, costituì gli unici punti di entrata e di uscita della città fortificata nel mezzo di una disputa tra le corone spagnola e portoghese.
Costruita nel 1857, la sua cima offre un'eccellente vista della città, oltre a consentire la vista di Buenos Aires nelle giornate limpide. Accanto vi sono ruderi di antichi edifici e di fronte si trova l'antica piazza centrale del centro storico.
Nasce in Plaza Mayor e prosegue in salita fino al Río de la Plata. È la via più caratteristica della città con le sue pittoresche e storiche case e il suo particolare selciato.
Costruito nel XVIII secolo per gli alti funzionari della città, Fu sede quasi un secolo dopo il luogo in cui fu conferito il titolo di Viceré del Rio de la Plata a Baltasar Hidalgo de Cisneros. Oggi restaurato e funzionante come museo.
Costruita nel 1680 come parte della città storica, prima in terra e paglia, poi in calce e pietra, sul pendio della Plaza de Armas, è la chiesa più antica costruita in Uruguay.
Godetevi le sue eccellenti viste sulla città e sul centro storico, nonché su alcune delle barche a vela e degli yacht ormeggiati lì.
Visita la più grande collezione di matite al mondo. Nei suoi corridoi si può trovare anche la matita più piccola del mondo, oltre alle matite regalate al proprietario del museo dallo stesso direttore della Faber Castell. Our guide of Le Club VIP Tour was Gonzalo, who brought us safely and on time to Colonia. He introduced us to the history and culture of Colonia in a varied and informative way on a very well planned tour. His recommendation for lunch on the riverbank we can only recommend. Gonzalo, from Le Club was awesome. We booked this just the day before as heard Colonia was worth the visit and it was. But as had never been to Uruguay, getting a private tour was the way to Go. Gonzalo is friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. He helped us learn more than a bit about the country and the city. He also was great in asking what we wanted to do, and shaped the day to us, including adding a trip to the Winery in the afternoon (worth it). I recommend him to everyone.

We had an excellent day in Colonia de Sacramento with our guide and driver Gonzolo. He picked us up at the appointed spot and quickly began to tell us about Montevideo and Uruguay. He had wonderful stories about sights along the way to Colonia. In Colonia, we walked through the colorful and historic streets while learning of the town’s Portuguese history. He also took us to the former bullring that has been beautifully repurposed as a performing arts center. After a visit to the lovely church, we were given free time for lunch and further exploring. Colonia is historical and picturesque, a nice break from Montevideo and Buenos Aires. On the drive back we stopped at the pencil, key chain and ashtray museum. It sounded a bit corny, but was actually a great stop and good conversation topic. We would highly recommend Gonzolo and his company, Le Club, when you are in Montevideo.

Interesting tour with a variety of activities — history and enjoyable scenery/gardens. Favio was a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide. It was very obvious he loved sharing the history of this area with others. The pencil museum on the way back to Montevideo was a fun stop and included much more than pencils.

Our trip to Colonia was absolutely perfect, thanks to Gonzalo as our guide. He ensured we got there safely and took the time to give us a detailed tour of the area upon arrival. We truly appreciated having free time to enjoy lunch and explore on our own. He was incredibly attentive to our needs, answered all our questions, and highlighted key landmarks during the 2.5-hour drive from Montevideo. This was our second day with Gonzalo, and we couldn’t be more impressed. Highly recommend this tour!

We chose to take a private tour to ensure we got to see as much of Colonia as possible and not be rushed by being part of a bigger group. Gonzalo picked us up on time and was very knowledgeable about everything on our route. He was very chatty and able to tell us about things we passed and was also happy to talk about life in Uruguay. He said he would be happy to stop or take detours if there was anything in particular that we wanted to see, but we were happy to be guided by him. When in Colonia, he showed us the old square but also took us out to see other parts of the town and the old bull ring, again explaining how Colonia had developed. We then returned where he left us for three hours to look around at our own accord and enjoy some lunch. We would recommend Gonzalo to anyone visiting Montevideo who wants to get out of the city and see a very different way of life.
