Questa città si trova a 28 km da Cusco, sulla strada asfaltata verso Urubamba. Qui giacciono i resti di quella che un tempo era la tenuta reale di Túpac Inca Yupanqui, uno splendido tempio coloniale costruito su fondamenta Inca. La sua maggiore attrazione, tuttavia, è il mercato artigianale, originariamente dedicato allo scambio di prodotti agricoli tra i membri della comunità della valle e quelli degli altopiani. Attualmente il mercato è un vero spettacolo di colori e movimento che affascina i visitatori con la sua offerta di prodotti artigianali e di capi tessili realizzati nel più puro stile precolombiano.
Si trova a 7 km da Maras e a 1 ora dalla città di Cusco, attraverso la via Chinchero. Si tratta di una delle visite più spettacolari, in cui è possibile ammirare piattaforme circolari di diverse dimensioni. Si trattava di terrazze di sperimentazione agricola e sono considerate anche luoghi di concentrazione dell'energia femminile, per questo sono riconosciute come centro magnetico della Pachamama.
Situate a nord-ovest della città di Maras, sono note ad alcuni come "miniere di sale" e sono costituite da circa 3.000 piccole fosse. Il sale veniva ricavato fin dall'epoca preispanica mediante un sistema di essiccazione al sole dell'acqua salata proveniente da un ruscello sotterraneo. Una volta evaporata l'acqua, il sale è pronto per la vendita.
Tipico villaggio Inca situato a 21 km da Urubamba (2800 m sul livello del mare). Prende il nome dal capo Ollanta, famoso per la sua storia d'amore con una principessa Inca, figlia di Pachacuti. Una delle zone meglio conservate si estende a nord della piazza Hanan Huacaypata, con un totale di 15 isolati di case costruite su muri di pietra scolpita. Nel vasto sito archeologico, situato sulla collina che domina la città, spiccano edifici come il Tempio del Sole, l'Intihuatana e i Bagni della Principessa. Da Ollantaytambo, una strada asfaltata sale fino al passo di Malaga (4200 m sul livello del mare) e si addentra nella foresta nebulosa, attraversando villaggi come il pittoresco Huilloc, patria di rinomati tessitori.
Urubamba offre splendide viste sulla Valle Sacra e sarà la nostra tappa per il pranzo e il riposo, dove potremo gustare la cucina peruviana.
Pisac si trova a 33 km da Cusco, raggiungibile tramite strada asfaltata, nella Valle Sacra degli Incas. Ospita una città antica e un sito archeologico considerati tra i più importanti di Cusco, oltre a una città moderna di origine coloniale. Qui troverete anche il famoso mercato artigianale di Pisac, che attrae migliaia di visitatori e membri della comunità provenienti da villaggi remoti, che indossano colorati abiti tradizionali. Si consiglia di acquistare prodotti artigianali qui, poiché solitamente sono più economici rispetto alla città di Cusco.

We had an amazing Sacred Valley tour with Gabriel — he was fluent in both English and Spanish, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable, explaining everything clearly and with real passion. The whole day ran smoothly with great transport, and the buffet booked through Trip.com was excellent. He made the experience unforgettable and we’d highly recommend him! I was in doubt if I put the sacred valley on the trip but how good I put it!!! It was very worth the whole day route leaving from Cusco and ending around 16:00 in a hotel to sleep in the sacred valley!!
Was a fun travel day. Among the longer tours on TripAdvisor, I felt this tour had the best value. The day before the tour I reached out on Whatsapp and confirmed the hotel pickup. The additional payment for entrance tickets was clearly explained and there were no surprises. Rafael picked us up promptly at about 7am. The transport was clean, comfortable and well maintained. Rafael's driving felt safe throughout the day. Alfredo Chile was the tour guide. Me and wife, were the only English speaking customers, but Alfredo patiently explained everything in both Spanish and English. It was also fun to travel with a Peruvian clientiele (on the other tours we did in Peru, it was all foreigners). All the stops were about the perfect duration, and we liked that the guide narrative was short and to the point. Had plenty of time to take photos and Alfredo pointed us to the best spot for photos. He also snapped photos for us, when requested. Alfredo answered all follow-up questions we had. Lunch buffet provided was good too. We arrived back in Cusco, approximately at 7pm as was planned. It was a constant, on-the-go tour. Thanks to Rafael and Alfredo, we were able to check off all the Sacred Valley highlights. There were some sales pitches thrown in, something we have seen on group tours in the past, but all were optional, nothing too pushy. Highly recommend this tour.
Dangerous if someone died and they didn't help not with first aid which is the most important thing before anything else because first is safety
Our family of four did a one-day private tour of four sights in the Sacred Valley: Ollantaytambo Archeological Park, Chinchero, Moray and the Maras Salt Mines. We considered just getting a driver but decided to get someone that was an actual guide, and it was a great decision. Percy Salas Alfaro was friendly, very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. We learned so much and it made the day really special. Highly recommend Percy!!
Fernando Del Gado was our guide and everything was perfect! Careful, attentive and with lots of information, respected the time of each person and the place is wonderful.
There are no medical services, one person in my group died from abandonment. It took the doctor more than 40 minutes to reach the site without oxygen or defibrillator
I was there!!! was during a visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Ollataytambo, when descending from the archaeological remains, one of the members of our group/tour (in charge of the companies lima tour and eurovips) suffered decompensation, falling to the floor where, after many minutes of despair, he would lose his life. This death could have been prevented. The victim received a first (and only) response for help from his groupmates and foreign tourists who, stunned by not believing that whoever should act did not, They intervened in the face of abandonment that seemed indifferent. NO ONE among those who were supposed to be performing any function in that place did anything or had the indispensable elements that they should have. I can assure you that there was no doctor, no oxygen, no defibrillator, no staff training in this type of problem (a simple protocol) and we were stunned at the incapacity and non-training of the supposed health professionals, who finally came (around 30 minutes later). With some help I would have survived.
