La storica oasi di Liwa si trova all'estremità settentrionale del Rub' Al Khali (il quartiere vuoto), il più grande deserto ininterrotto del mondo. L'Oasi di Liwa beneficia di una falda freatica che si trova vicino alla superficie e che ha sostenuto l'agricoltura e l'allevamento di animali per generazioni. Questo crea un drammatico contrasto nel paesaggio tra verdi palmeti di datteri e alte dune di sabbia rosso-arancio. L'Oasi di Liwa si estende in un arco est-ovest per più di 100 chilometri e presenta alcune delle più grandi dune di sabbia del mondo, molte delle quali superano i 150 metri di altezza. I viaggiatori possono pranzare al sacco nel mezzo dell'Oasi.

The Liwa desert was amazing – endless dunes and really peaceful. The 4x4 dune bashing was fun, and the stops for photos and the oasis made it feel like a proper escape from the city. It’s a long day, but worth it if you want to see the real desert.
Once the dunes appeared, especially Moreeb dune that golden light, rolling sand, quiet sky...it felt like stepping into another world. Just plan for a long day, travel prepared, and let yourself slow down when you can.

The dune bashing experience was wild and thrilling! Our driver was skilled and made the whole ride feel like a rollercoaster — up and down the towering dunes with the sand spraying across the windows. I couldn’t stop laughing (and screaming a little!). It was the perfect balance of adrenaline and awe. One of the best parts of the day was stopping at the top of one of the highest dunes and just… being silent. No cars, no noise, just the wind and the sheer vastness of the desert.
