Tour Safari in Jeep - Mezza giornata

We were very, very disappointed, if not more, with this excursion that is sold as a Safari excursion. However, we spend almost most of the time in downtown on the road. We go through three dirt paths and they allow themselves to call it a Safari. Moreover, the excursion is marked in French, yet we are reprimanded because we do not speak English. I find this unacceptable; we had perhaps five sentences in French, the entire excursion was in English. It was more of a historical tour of the city than a Safari, with no strong sensations or adventure, just a simple visit to a castle and a farm plantation. If you want a safari experience, I do not recommend this excursion. We just wasted a day of our beautiful stay in Portugal with this excursion that lasted more than five hours. Take a Bolt for the tour; it’s the same.

This half day trip takes you away from the beaches and commercial Algarve, up into the hills and more remote villages of this stunning area. We visited the ruins of Paderne Castle. We also visited a couple of small villages, visited an Eco farm and opportunities to swim at the springs and the waterfall. Our guide and driver, Nuno, was excellent, very informative about the region, allowed us to explore the various stops in our own time and in general enabled us to have a genuinely enjoyable time. Wow! What a brilliant day!!! We had Carla as our tour guide and learnt so much about the local area and she was so funny! The absolute highlight of our holiday! We took our 16 month old and she had the best day too, Carla was very considerate and the company provided us with a car seat to use. Thank you for such a wonderful day! We will be talking about it for years to come ❤️

We had a fabulous time, would highly recommend! We took our kids aged 12&14. The trip involved driving around the country side, learning about history & culture, fabulous views, 2 swim stops one in a local spring & by a waterfall and also a visit a local farm (which was a highlight for me!). You can taste their tea & buy some aloe vera products. Paolo was brilliant, very knowledgeable and friendly. Picked us up on time from our hotel and dropped us back again. Bring cash if you want to purchase some pottery/ souvenirs! 5*

Well honestly we didn’t know what to expect. With a 85 year old mother and 2 daughters. Carla was our driver and as we are farmers , we enjoyed the different kind of farming like orange farms avocados figs . We went to a castle she spoke lovely English and she was normal person picking up on what we wanted . Thank you so much . The views were exceptional . Perfect women for the job. Xxx

We booked the half day jeep safari tour with the wonderful Carla and Reuben. They went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing time. It was the best activity of our trip. We got to see the beautiful Algarve in a way that we would not have been able to explore without their knowledge. Carla made the experience so much fun with plenty laughs along the way. We stopped off at so many beautiful locations - Paderne Castle, Paderne, Alte (and visited a beautiful natural spring for an optional swim!), Moinho do Leitão (Windmill) and an amazing waterfall (Queda do Vigário). We spent time learning about all the local history and amazing flora in the area and had the opportunity to try firewater and local honey. We even had the chance to stop at a bakery for a sweet treat on the way home. Overall, we couldn’t recommend this more! Thank you for the amazing day Carla and Zebra Safari!

Please be warned Firstly, we did not receive the vehicle we had booked. We were expecting a zebra Land Rover, but instead were placed in an older Toyota. This was extremely disappointing and significantly impacted our enjoyment, as the ride felt uncomfortable and far from the experience we had anticipated. Additionally, there was a trainee guide in the front seat, which meant that the remaining five paying guests (4 adults and 1 child ticket) were all seated in the back of the vehicle. Less than 24hrs before the trip, we were asked to change the date of our booking. Although we requested to keep our original time, we were not informed that this would result in a different vehicle and would be accommodating a trainee guide to what we paid for. We also noticed another zebra Land Rover with only four guests (2 adults and 2 children) in a much larger and more suitable vehicle. It seemed that this would have been a more appropriate setting for the a trainee guide, rather than placing five guests in a smaller car. Overall, this experience did not meet our expectations and was a significant disappointment.

Such a fun and interesting experience, thanks to Carla, we explored so much of Algarvian history and culture, visiting a moorish castle, Roman bridges, rural towns, experiencing Portuguese life both past and present. We got to see and learn so much more than we anticipated. Definitely recommend if you like a rich cultural experience from rural towns, orange farms and more 😊
