I was able to experience the tours as a solo and had a great time! Very educational and knowledgeable in both places and both guides were very friendly and added to the experience. I appreciated the flexibility and attention to detail on timing and sequences of the tour. Being able to experience both places the same day also allowed me to get a full picture of the story behind the 2 and how they tie into each other. Overall, great experience!
This was an exceptional tour and one of the highlights of our time in Mexico City. From the moment we were picked up, everything was organized, comfortable, and professional. Josue was a professional and very attentive driver. The vehicle was modern and very comfortable, and we appreciated having plenty of water available throughout the day. Our first destination was Teotihuacán, where we were guided by Montserrat López Hernández. She was absolutely wonderful—warm, engaging, incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the history of the site. As a local guide with experience connected to archaeological work in the area, she brought a depth of understanding that made the ancient city come alive. Montserrat did a fantastic job explaining the significance of the pyramids, the Avenue of the Dead, the residential areas, carvings, paintings, and glyphs throughout the site. She continually encouraged questions and engaged our entire family, including our children, with thoughtful observations and interesting challenges that kept everyone involved. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and her kindness made the experience especially enjoyable. What impressed us most is that my husband and I had visited Teotihuacán before, yet we still learned a tremendous amount. Montserrat shared insights and details we had never encountered on previous visits, making the site feel fresh and fascinating all over again. Lunch was excellent, with delicious local cuisine in a beautiful and welcoming setting at restaurant La Catrina. It was a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy another aspect of Mexican culture. Later, we visited the Basilica of Guadalupe with Pablo, who provided a comprehensive and fascinating tour of the entire complex. He guided us through the history of the original chapel, the Chapel of the Indians, the old basilica, and the new basilica with clarity, sensitivity, and remarkable historical knowledge. He is a gifted storyteller and has a talent for placing events in their broader historical and cultural context. Like Teotihuacán, the Basilica was a place my husband and I had visited before, yet Pablo still managed to teach us many new things. His explanations deepened our appreciation for the site and helped us understand aspects of its history and significance that we had previously overlooked. Both guides were excellent with our children while also providing the depth and substance that adults appreciate. They answered questions thoughtfully, helped us capture wonderful family photographs, and made the entire day feel welcoming and engaging. We left feeling that we had not only visited two extraordinary places but had truly learned from experts who care deeply about sharing Mexico’s history and culture. We highly recommend this tour and are especially grateful to Montserrat and Pablo for making it such a memorable experience.
We had a FANTASTIC time with Isias. He was so kind and friendly. Him and Josue picked us up on time from our hotel at 8am in a clean, comfortable car then transferred us to the pyramids and basilica! Even while we were in the car he was sharing tidbits and answering any questions we asked. Like I said, Isias was so knowledgeable about the history and every question we asked he was able to answer. The pyramids was my favorite memory of visiting Mexico City and I am so thankful that I booked this tour to be able to do so. If you are looking for a private tour with a fantastic guide… I highly recommend this one!
Thanks a lot for your feedback that helps us a lot to improve. Isaias is one of the best tour guides we have and is a delight listening to him. We hope to see you again someday. Thanks again.
The tour title said "private" but I didn't actually expect that. It was! Just me and the wife, and we didn't have to think about anything. SUV transportation was very comfortable. Guide Isaiah was super knowledgeable, fluent in English and understandable. We were easily in/out of each location stop. Love the pyramid complex! Great pace. Not hurried. Not crowded. Loved it! Lunch stop was very cool venue, and food was great. All around a great experience.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We truly enjoy hosting private events, as they allow us to provide a fully personalized service. We’re glad to hear that you had a wonderful day with our team. Best regards,
My wife and I went on this tour on Feb. 7. Our guide was Isaias and I can sum up our overall experience in one word: excellent! He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic; not only in relationship to the pyramids and the Basilica but on Mexican history & culture, as well. His command of English was excellent. His passion for the subject matter was so contagious that it filters into his clients. Thank you, Isaias for a wonderful tour! I would highly recommend PATA to anyone. I regret that I can’t remember the name of our driver, but he was also excellent. Greg&Cheryl
Dear Greg, Thank you very much for your review. It helps us to let more people know what to expect from our services. It was a pleasure to share this experience with you. As you say, Isaias is one of our best guides — he's an expert in history and has a great personality. Isaias and Josué (the driver) and I are very grateful that you chose us for this adventure in Teotihuacan, the City of the Gods.
We did the tour in Teotihuacán/Basilica de Guadalupe on January 15, but above all we did an 8-day car tour with drivers (from January 16 to 23), visiting Queretaro, San Miguel, Guanajuato, Patzcuaro, Morelia, Puebla and Oaxaca (doing more than 1600km); we traveled with Pablo Tello, the owner of the agency. I chose Pata Tours (over 2 other quotes) for the flexibility and availability in defining the stages, visits and modifying the program that Pablo demonstrated during the offer. The choice turned out to be a winner: with Pablo we travelled very well with his Suzuki Ertiga SUV; he is a careful and prudent driver; he is very punctual and available for stops and trips in the individual cities we visited. He's also a good guide with a thorough knowledge of Mexico. For the experience I definitely recommend Pata Tours.
This was an incredible experience. Our guides Pablo and Uriel were excellent. Pablo shared insights on Mexico City and Teotihuacán on our drive to the historic site. Upon our arrival, Uriel gave us a most informative and inspiring tour of pyramids, even more special as he was from the area. Our next stop was lunch at a local restaurant; Pablo and Uriel joined us and shared their favorite dishes to try. Then onto the Basílica de Guadalupe, where Uriel shared the history of three temples along with the original painting of the Virgin of Guadalupe. A day full of memories and new found knowledge. 100% recommend!
This tour was everything we wanted and more! Our lead tour guide, Pablo, was the best. When we return to Mexico, we will definitely get in touch with Pablo to see more of Mexico.

Fantastic experience. Isaias was an incredibly knowledgeable tour guide, and took us everywhere. His depth of knowledge and experience made the trip wonderful. He was warm and funny and having an education in social anthropology was just astounding. Cannot recommend him highly enough. Thank you for the experience of a lifetime. B&B
Hello, and thank you for your valuable review. We had a wonderful day with you, sharing our passion for the history of this country — both old and new — which continues to be part of our culture. Thank you for letting us be part of this wonderful experience. Best regards,
This is a must-do Mexico City tour with Pata. From the awesome car conversations on the drive to and from the ruins, to the incredible, and relaxed, private tour of the ruins, wrapping with a great road side lunch to warm up with delicious soup and more conversation, these guys brought the land, people and history to life with meaningful detail and familiarity. Our son is in college, but he would have loved joining us as well. Definitely can see how they cater to anyone who signs up. Thank you for a memorable day!
