Perge ritorna alla storia come città greca della Panfilia, e con la Panfilia passò di nuovo sotto il dominio di Persiani, Ateniesi e Persiani. Alessandro Magno, dopo aver lasciato Phaselis, occupò Perge con una parte del suo esercito. La strada tra questi due paesi è descritta come lunga e difficile. Il governo di Alessandro fu seguito dall'impero Diadochi dei Seleucidi, poi dai Romani. Perge divenne nota per il culto di Artemide, il cui tempio sorgeva su una collina fuori città, e in cui si celebravano le feste annuali. Le monete di Perge rappresentano sia la dea che il suo tempio.
Alcuni studiosi associano il nome della città con "Azatiwadaya". La nota città con quel nome fu fondata da Azatiwada di Quwê sulla sua frontiera orientale, a Karatepe. [3] Secondo la tradizione successiva, Aspendos fu fondata piuttosto prima dai greci che potrebbero provenire da Argo. La vasta gamma di monete nel mondo antico indica che, nel V secolo a.C., Aspendos era diventata la città più importante della Panfilia. A quel tempo, secondo Tucidide, il fiume Eurymedon era navigabile fino ad Aspendos, [4] e la città traeva grande ricchezza dal commercio di sale, petrolio e lana. Aspendos non ha svolto un ruolo importante nell'antichità come forza politica. La sua storia politica durante il periodo di colonizzazione corrispondeva alle correnti della regione della Panfilia. Ömer was a very friendly, knowledgeable guide who went out of his way to give us a great experience. Our driver was excellent in navigating his way around the busy roads. All the places we visited were really interesting. Topped off with a delicious Turkish ice cream at the waterfall. Highly recommend!
