A soli 10 minuti di auto da Podgorica si trova il più famoso sito archeologico di epoca romana: Doclea. La città fu costruita per assumere una posizione strategica tra tre fiumi e per un certo periodo della sua esistenza fu capoluogo della provincia di Praevalitana che comprendeva il territorio dell'attuale Montenegro. Oggi il foro di un'importante città romana contiene resti di plastica lapidea, colonne, capitelli, epitaffi, terme, templi... Conosceremo come vivevano gli antichi romani e scopriremo di più sulle diverse epoche storiche di Podgorica e del Montenegro.
Uno dei monasteri montenegrini più significativi e sicuramente il più famoso e spettacolare si trova a circa 45 km da Podgorica a 900 metri sul livello del mare, sotto la ripida scogliera del monte Ostrog (da cui prende il nome). Il monastero dall'aspetto imponente è stato fondato a metà del 17° secolo da un monaco e un superiore di una delle eparchie dell'ex chiesa ortodossa serba - Vasilije, il cui culto si è ampiamente diffuso, quindi l'attuale monastero è uno degli ortodossi più visitati centri spirituali in tutto il mondo.
