Partiamo da Via Tunisi nel quartiere Prati, a pochi minuti dai Musei Vaticani. Qui si percepisce subito la doppia identità di Roma: la città “moderna” tardo - ottocentesca e, nelle vicinanze, il cuore spirituale e artistico del Vaticano. Iniziano i Musei Vaticani nel 1506, dopo la scoperta del famoso gruppo scultoreo del Laocoonte, quando papa Giulio II lanciato una collezione che ha continuato a crescere per secoli. Oggi il percorso conduce alla Cappella Sistina, dipinta da Michelangelo tra il 1508 e il 1512.
Castel Sant’Angelo fu costruito come mausoleo dell’imperatore Adriano, intorno all’anno d.C. 123-139 : tomba monumentale affacciata sul Tevere. Nel tempo è diventato un punto strategico fortezza, una prigione e un rifugio. Il suo legame con il Vaticano è forte grazie alla Passetto di Borgo, corridoio fortificato che permetteva ai papi di raggiungere il castello in tempi di pericolo. Il nome “Sant’Angelo” richiama una tradizione del 590, quando papa Gregorio il Si dice che Great abbia visto l'Arcangelo Michele rivestire la spada, segnalando la fine di una peste.

Il Pantheon è uno degli edifici antichi meglio conservati al mondo. La versione che vediamo oggi fu ricostruita sotto Adriano e completata intorno al 125 d.C. La sua cupola è un capolavoro di ingegneria : per secoli è stato il più grande del mondo, e rimane la più grande cupola in cemento armato mai costruita. Al centro si trova l'oculo, un apertura che lascia entrare luce e aria. Quando piove, l'acqua cade all'interno, ma il pavimento è progettati con discrete pendenze e scarichi. Nel 609 d.C. fu convertita in chiesa, che ha contribuito a preservarla. Qui è sepolto anche il pittore Raffaello (morto nel 1520).
La Fontana di Trevi è il grande teatro d’acqua di Roma. Fu completato nel 1762, progettato di Nicola Salvi (i lavori iniziarono nel 1732), e segna il punto finale dell'Acqua Vergine acquedotto, originariamente costruito nel 19 aC. La statua centrale rappresenta Oceanus, circondato da figure simboliche legate all’abbondanza e alla salute. La tradizione del lancio delle monete è moderna ma famoso in tutto il mondo: lanciare una moneta significa tornare a Roma.
Piazza Venezia è uno snodo chiave della Roma moderna. Il Vittoriano domina la piazza, dedicato a Vittorio Emanuele II, il primo re d'Italia unificato. La costruzione è iniziata nel 1885 e fu inaugurato nel 1911, quando l’Italia volle esprimere l’identità nazionale attraverso architetture monumentali. All'interno si trova la Tomba del Milite Ignoto, È stato istituito nel 1921, un simbolo che commemora coloro che sono morti nella prima guerra mondiale. un punto panoramico eccezionale sulla città.
I Fori Imperiali erano il cuore politico dell'Impero. Il foro di Giulio Cesare era inaugurato nel 46 a.C., quello di Augusto nel 2 a.C., seguito dai fori di Nerva e Traiano : a sequenza di piazze monumentali che riflettono l'ambizione imperiale. Il Colosseo, inoltre conosciuto come Anfiteatro Flavio, fu inaugurato nell'80 d.C. sotto Tito, dopo La costruzione iniziò sotto Vespasiano. Poteva ospitare decine di migliaia di spettatori e funzionava con una logistica impressionante: ingressi numerati, corridoi e un sotterraneo sistema per paesaggi e animali.

The experience with the guide was wonderful; he was very attentive and explained everything in detail, but the golf cart is a bit old, dirty, and some things were making noise! If the cart were in better condition, everything would be perfect!
1000 out of 10 - Would absolutely do this again!!! Francesco, our tour guide, was kind, gracious, funny and knowledgeable. You can tell he really enjoys what he does and the information he gave on the tour was very interesting and helpful. He gave us time to take pictures, took pictures of us and helped point out a number of other stops we could do on our own. We only had 2 hours with him, but we got so much in, and no way we could have seen all of that on our own. He also was great with all 3 of our kids - 16, 13 and 6, engaging with each of them, making them laugh and showing them history examples of the sites we stopped at from his phone. He even made sure we got back safely to our uber - Highly highly recommend Francesco!!
Our guide was prompt and took us to all the most popular spots in Rome and it was a nice way to see things in the city. However, his narration was lost on us as we could not understand what he was saying due to a strong accent.
Our local guide Maurizio was excellent, knew where to get us and made the tour a really relaxing day around the city. Totally worth it, totally recommended!!
The golf cart tour was an absolute lifesaver in Rome! We got to see so much of the city in just a few hours without any exhaustion. Our driver, Francesco, was amazing and navigated the chaotic streets perfectly. Grazie Francesco!
For the price, it was well worth it! We hit up most of the major attractions and doing it on the golf cart made it so easy and stress free. Not to mention you get to relax to and from each stop and not sweat too much from the heat! My friends and I had Yassine as our driver and he was the best!! Very kind and patient, and played great music in between the little intros to the attractions. He even took a little detour for us to stop at a gelateria that we had been recommended. And since our last stop was the Colleseum and our bnb was close by, he dropped us off there instead of the initial meeting point by the Vatican, which was very appreciated! I highly suggest doing this tour, it’s a nice way to see the sights in comfort and with efficiency. I’m also someone who has been to Rome a couple times before and walked everywhere, and it was a nice change in how to see the city.
This was absolutely the best way to see Rome in all its beauty. Yassine was the best tour guide I’ve ever had. He even dropped us off at our airbnb after letting us stop for gelato. He was so attentive and caring and made sure we were having a good time the entire time. I could not have asked for a better first experience in Rome. Thank you Yassine for an unforgettable experience! I’d give more than 5 stars if I could.
I hesitated to even leave a review, but felt I needed to share. Our tour guide, Francesco, was loud and obnoxious. He spent the tour yelling (flirting?) at all the young women on the streets. He would yell “I love you, baby!” Or “You are so beautiful!” When we stopped at the one spot he stayed at the golf cart because there wasn’t a real parking spot near by. When we returned to the cart, we had to wait for him because he was getting a woman’s phone number. He then texted her while driving the golf cart. He also got into a yelling match with another driver and cussed the other man out. I did not feel safe and was glad when the tour was over.
It was a wonderful ride with a lot of information; it couldn't be better, now we know all of Rome, thanks to Maurizio 👍
