We had a wonderful time on our tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and showed us a lot of beautiful places. We enjoyed this very much.
We had Tiago as our host for this tour. We had a little bit of a delay in the start as Viator had given Tiago the wrong pickup but Tiago quickly messaged and remedied the problem. We were then off for a great 5 hour tour and had a wonderful time. Tiago was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of facts about the Azores and the history. We were able to see everything that was on the tour and spent a good amount of time in the Thermal Baths. Great Job Tiago.
Wonderful day with a native of the islands with an easily adaptable tour. The small company is run by two brothers who are eager to enrich your time in Ponta Delgada. I could not be happier with our guide Nilton.
The largest island in the Azores still has volcanic activity. In the middle of Furnas there are a lot of solfatars, sulphurous springs with temperatures of up to 100 degrees Celsius. It smells like rotten eggs, but you can handle it after a few minutes. The corn cooked there is particularly delicious. Furnas is also home to many holes in the ground with high temperatures, in which the locals put large pots - for about 6 hours - in which various types of meat and vegetables are located. The so cooked dish is called cosito tastes delicious, but should not be eaten very often, because a rapid weight gain threatens...
We had a really nice time on this private tour. Everything was well organized and went very relaxed. In addition to interesting facts about the island, we also got many helpful tips for the rest of our stay. The car was very comfortable and pleasantly air conditioned. Our guide was friendly, well informed and answered every one of our questions. The hours passed quickly, and we saw places that we certainly would not have found on our own. For the service offered we found the price absolutely reasonable. Overall, it was an all-round successful tour, which we are happy to recommend.
Wonderful day in Furnas! Nilton was an excellent guide - kind and knowledgeable. He navigated the tricky roads with ease in his very comfortable car. As a lifelong resident, he shared lots of interesting information about life on Sao Miguel. He brought us to places we would not have found on our own. He and his brother are a family business - they take pride in the business and their home and it shows! Highly recommend!
If you're heading to the Azores and don't book with Tiago, you're seriously missing out. We spent two unforgettable days with him, and by the end, he wasn't just our guide-he felt like family. Tiago is insanely knowledgea ble about his homeland. Every landmark, every historical fact, every local secret-he brought it all to life with passion and depth. But more than that, he curated a perfect experience for our family of four. We soaked in natural hot springs, took in jaw-dropping mountain and lake views, kayaked in those lakes, feasted on legit Azorean cuisine, and even swam in part of the freakin' ocean heated by a geothermal vent. Yeah. That happened. Tiago's energy, attention to detail, and love for the Azores made this trip unforgettable. He listened to what we wanted, leveled it up, and gave us something even better. Can't recommend him enough. Obrigado, Tiago-you've got fans for life.
Tiago was an incredible guide! Seeing to our every wish and showing us the best spots. 10/10 would recommend!
We had a fantastic tour! Tiago was a great guide, very accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly. He took us to multiple points of interest and told us interesting details about each location. I would definitely recommend him.
We did this tour as a shore excursion off our cruise ship. Since there were four of us and this was a private tour, we were expecting a small van or SUV. Instead, we were greeted with a small sedan. Three of us had to pile into the back seat, and one in the front. Despite the close quarters, it was very difficult to hear the guide and several times I asked him to speak louder, but then he would go back to a lower volume. It felt like he was only talking to the person in the front seat. One thing that was fun on the drive to Furnas was a spontaneous stop at a small ceramic factory. We were the only ones there and were able to meet and watch the artisans make Portuguese pottery. Along the way, we had another stop at Da Paz Chapel on a hilltop where there were amazing views. When we got to Furnas, he walked us around the hot springs in the town and took us for a coffee, then to the Terra Nostra Park. At this point we were on our own for about an hour to walk the botanical gardens and relax in the thermal pools. We recommend going to the lower pools which are smaller and hotter. Afterwards, we grabbed a quick lunch and had a scenic drive back to the ship, stopping at a couple more viewpoints.
