Spent an hour with royal mummies

I went solo and I spent a long time at the museum's royal mummy hall. Our guide Gamal explained each mummy's identity and history. I saw Ramses the Great and Hatshepsut. It was surreal to see their faces. I spent an hour there just looking. We then visited the pyramids and I walked around the base. The day was focused on the dead but felt alive with history. Gamal was respectful and informative. Admission fee was 118 usd for the full tour. Length of visit was 8 hours. Atmosphere was historical and respectful. Crowd size was moderate and the hall was quiet. Staff were dignified and knowledgeable. Best for solo travelers who love mummies. Yasser gave me a detailed map of the mummy hall.

Sayed played hide and seek at pyramids

I took my four children and our guide Sayed was a miracle worker. He kept them entertained with jokes and stories. We visited the pyramids and he played hide and seek with them around the smaller structures. At the museum he gave them a treasure hunt to find specific artifacts. They found a golden chair and a mummified cat. The day was chaotic but wonderful. Admission fee was 100 usd per adult and 45 usd per child. Length of visit was 8 hours. Atmosphere was chaotic and joyful. Crowd size was busy but Sayed managed well. Staff were energetic and child friendly. Best for families with many children. Yasser gave each child a souvenir.

Debated who built the pyramids

I went with friends and we had a history debate about who built the pyramids. Our guide Hesham settled it with evidence. He showed us the workers' cemetery and the tools. We were all wrong. We then visited the museum and saw the workers' artifacts. Hesham was patient with our arguments. We had a great time debating and learning. The day was intellectually stimulating and fun. Admission fee was 125 usd each. Length of visit was 8 hours. Atmosphere was debate like and lively. Crowd size was moderate but we were in our own world. Staff were experts and mediators. Best for friends who like debates. Yasser gave us a book about the pyramid builders.

Saw a desert fox near the pyramids

I went solo and I was lucky to see a desert fox near the pyramid complex. It was small and shy. Our guide Wael said they live in the area. I watched it for five minutes before it ran away. We then visited the museum and saw the animal mummies including a fox mummy. I felt a connection. The day was full of unexpected wildlife. Admission fee was 115 usd for the full tour. Length of visit was 8 hours. Atmosphere was wild and surprising. Crowd size was moderate but the fox was in a quiet area. Staff were observant and pointed it out. Best for solo travelers who love animals. Yasser told me about the foxes before the tour.

Reverse schedule beat the heat

We went as a couple and we visited the Grand Egyptian Museum first to avoid the heat. Our guide Rasha took us through the museum in the cool morning. We saw the giant statues and the jewelry. Then we went to the pyramids in the late afternoon when it was cooler. We watched the sunset over the Sphinx. It was a perfect reverse schedule. Rasha was flexible and listened to our needs. The day was comfortable and beautiful. Admission fee was 150 usd each. Length of visit was 8 hours. Atmosphere was comfortable and smart. Crowd size was smaller in the late afternoon. Staff were flexible and accommodating. Best for couples who want to beat the heat. Yasser recommended the reverse schedule.

Built a mini pyramid in the sand

I took my three kids and we built a mini pyramid in the sand near the actual pyramids. Our guide Fady helped us shape it. We collected small stones and made a model. It took us an hour. We then visited the museum and saw the real pyramids in the exhibits. The kids were proud of their model. The day was creative and hands on. Admission fee was 105 usd per adult and 50 usd per child. Length of visit was 8 hours. Atmosphere was creative and proud. Crowd size was busy but we found sand space. Staff were supportive of our project. Best for families with builders. Yasser took a photo of our sand pyramid.

A day That Will Stay With Me Forever — Hasan is Extraordinary

Me and my husband visited the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum on a private tour with Egy Excursions, and I genuinely cannot recommend it highly enough. Driver Mahmood was wonderful — calm, punctual and so accommodating throughout the day. But our guide Hasan was something else entirely. He is not simply a tour guide — he is a true Egyptologist, and his depth of knowledge is extraordinary. Thanks to Hasan, I didn’t just see the pyramids and the museum — I truly understood them. The history, the context, the stories behind everything we saw — all brought to life in a way I never expected. And it wasn’t just the history — Hasan also took the most amazing photographs of us at the pyramids. He knew exactly where to position us, when the light was right, and which angles to use. We came away with pictures we will genuinely treasure for the rest of our lives. What also stood out was Hasan’s generosity beyond the itinerary. Although it wasn’t part of our booked tour, he kindly offered to take us to a traditional oil school and a papyrus school — a wonderful glimpse into authentic Egyptian crafts that we would never have discovered on our own. These little extras made the day feel so much more special and personal. Hasan’s hospitality and warmth made the experience deeply personal. He is the kind of guide you remember for a lifetime. If you are visiting Cairo, book with Egy Excursions and ask for Hasan — you will not be disappointed.

An Unforgettable Day at the Pyramids & Grand Egyptian Museum — Hasan is a Gem

We booked a private tour with Egy Excursions covering the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum, and it exceeded every expectation. Driver Mahmood was punctual, professional and a pleasure to be with — exactly what you want on a long day out. But the real highlight was our guide Hasan, who is simply extraordinary. This is not a “standard tour guide” — Hasan is a genuine Egyptologist with deep, encyclopaedic knowledge that brings 5,000 years of history to life in front of your eyes. He answered every question with depth and enthusiasm, and his passion for Egypt’s history is infectious. Beyond his knowledge, Hasan’s warmth and hospitality made the day truly special. He looked after us throughout, made us feel completely at ease, and turned what could have been an overwhelming experience into something personal and memorable. If you are visiting Cairo and considering a private tour of the Pyramids or the Grand Egyptian Museum — stop considering and just book. Ask for Hasan. You won’t regret it.

Adventure, history, and culture

The cultural and historical part was curated by Arm, who first took us to discover the Pyramids (with a beautiful camel ride) and then to visit the Citadel, the splendid mosques, and the Hanging Church. The Grand Egyptian Museum was a wonder. Arm was an exceptional guide: excellent in explanations, never boring, and always very engaging. He has been able to convey the history of these unique places to us with great passion. In the afternoon, we changed pace with Omar, who took us on a quad ride that was nothing short of spectacular and incredibly fun! Both were extremely professional, welcoming, and knowledgeable. An experience that I wholeheartedly recommend to everyone.
