Another Fantastic experience with Tony Tours! Loved everything about our Galle Day Tour. This time we had little Tony as our guide and he was an exvellent guide with lot of knowledge . We visited sea turtltel hatchery, Madu river safari , tusunami meuseum , moonstone mine , galle fort and stil fisherman Thank you very much Tony
Despite heavy rainfall that day we had a fabulous day out visiting firstly the turtle hatchery and conservation project which was incredible and very interesting, followed by a visit to the Moonstone Mine and shop. Again very interesting and informative. Next on to see the stilt fisherman who very kindly obliged us by showing their craft in the heavy rain! All were very friendly and welcoming and showed us their catch. Then on to Galle Fort where our guide Roshan gave us an informative history pointing out parts of interest as we walked. Our final stop was for the highlight of the day the river safari. Fortunately the rain had eased off and we were able to see and photograph many birds, a crocodile and a family of monkeys. As an extra we visited a Buddhist temple on one of the small islands and Roshan provided a great overview of the Buddhist religion and philosophy. Hats off to our guide Roshan and our fantastic driver Kuma for giving us a memorable day.
What a lovely day and a great Galle day tour with a river safari and so much more! We were picked up early with Jonathon waiting for us in reception when we got there, and we were early too. Along with our driver, (apologies, I have forgotten his name) I have limited mobility and use a stick but it wasn’t a problem as at every turn Jonathon and our driver were there to help. We enjoyed visiting the turtle hatchery and finding out about the important work they do there to help protect and nurture baby turtles and also look after injured turtles. Then off to the river safari, which was great fun and really interesting, with stops at Cinnamon island and a visit to the Buddha island too. With a trip through the mangroves and across the massive basin of the river which is as big as a lake. We then visited the Moonstone Gem mine which was very informative too. A quick stop at the Tsunami photo record museum, very moving and then on to a great stop for a delicious lunch. Then to Galle first to see how the uniques stilt fishing happens and then onto see the Dutch Fort at Galle, Jonathon yet again providing interesting information about the history of the port itself and of the Dutch fort. It was so hot but they managed to make it very easy for us to get a flavour of the place and also with a special stop off for my husband to see where the cricket test matches are played from within the fort! Both Jonathon and our driver couldn’t have done any more, they were great. We can’t thank Tony’s Tours enough for a fantastic day and highly recommend them.Update. I stupidly left my hat in the car when we returned to the hotel but it was returned to me at our hotel within 30 minutes. Thanks again
