Questo fantastico tour ti darà l'opportunità di scoprire la storia della Laconia che unisce la storia greca antica e (la meno conosciuta) medievale greca. Visita Sparta, dove regnò Leonida e torna indietro nell'era bizantina passeggiando per torri, palazzi e chiese a Mystras.

Itinerario
Inizieremo con un giro lungo la costa. Lungo la strada vedrai alcuni villaggi marini greci e l'isola di Salamina (dove ebbe luogo la storica battaglia navale tra ateniesi e persiani). La nostra prima fermata sul Canale di Corinto. Inaugurato nel 1892, separa la penisola del Peloponneso dal resto della Grecia e collega il Golfo Saronico al Mar Corinto. Avrai tempo di attraversare un ponte pedonale per ammirare il canale più vicino, (se stai giocando) in alcuni giorni il bungee jumping è un'opzione.
Dopo la sosta sul canale ci dirigeremo verso Mystras guidando nella penisola meridionale del Peloponneso attraverso il paesaggio montuoso della campagna greca. Raggiungendo Mystras capirai automaticamente perché questa posizione si trova così unica nei siti greci. Conosciuta come la città fantasma, fortificata su una cittadella, Mystras è una delle due posizioni in Grecia che conserva non solo chiese medievali ma anche case ordinarie, palazzi e palazzi dell'Impero bizantino in combinazione con elementi franchi.
Camminando nel sito sul punto superiore raggiungerai la cittadella e godrai di una magnifica vista delle aree circostanti mentre camminando giù per la collina incontrerai i palazzi e i cortili reali. Sebbene conosciuta come la città fantasma, la maggior parte dei monasteri sono ancora in uso e i monaci ti mostreranno volentieri la loro piccola società. Prima di uscire ti imbatterai nella cappella di San Demetrio, sul suo pavimento sopravvive una lapide raffigurante un'aquila a due teste (il simbolo di Bisanzio). Fu proprio su questa targa che Konstantine Paleologo si inginocchiò prima di essere incoronato l'ultimo imperatore di Bisanzio.
In seguito passeremo il resto del nostro tempo a Sparta, conosciuta come l'eterna città rivale della democrazia ateniese. Sparta ruotava attorno a una diversa teoria del Cosmo per gli antichi standard greci. Inizialmente noto come il luogo di nascita di Elena di Troia e del Regno di Menelao (nel periodo miceneo), Sparta fu organizzata come una società puramente militare nell'antico periodo greco. Fu la città dei due re a dominare alcuni aristocratici e naturalmente la città da cui Leonida e i suoi 300 spartani marciarono per affrontare l'esercito persiano Termopili nel 480 a.C.
Continuando passeremo davanti allo stadio dove si trova la statua del re Leonida che segna il punto finale della gara di Spartathlon (Atene - Sparta 245,3 km).
Visiteremo il museo dell'olio (di oliva e) di oliva e impareremo molte cose sui prodotti più famosi della Grecia.
Ritorneremo ad Atene.

Nikos was a terrific guide. He was on time and in a roomy van. He drove us to the Corinthian canal, took us to Sparta, an olive museum( which is an interest to us), we walked the path in Mystra, had a lovely meal and headed home. We had a lovely day and appreciated how helpful and knowledgeable Nikos was. What a fun day!

Visit to Mystras was excellent. Great walk through the ruins of the Byzantine era city. Spectacular views of the countryside, and a very good lunch in town. Our guide Theodore was great. Very friendly, and he was a wealth of knowledge on the history of the area. The only somewhat dissapointment was Sparta. Visiting Corinth would be a better option for those who haven't been there.
Terry was our guide for this one day trip. He is very knowledgeable and we had a great conversation during the long commute to Sparta. Mystras was mesmerizing and a must visit to the archeological site while Sparta mostly was a stop by experience and we found the visit to the Sparta museum was a tad less luscious. A private tour is expensive but you get to have a more personal and flexible experience which we appreciated.

There is no better way to see Sparta and Mystras and as a fan of hoplite history, getting to see Sparta in person was an unforgettable experience. The statue of Leonidas is absolutely amazing and only a short distance away is the ruins of Mystras. It is easily one of the most beautiful sites to see and is very accessible. Our driver Andreas was also absolutely outstanding, the drive was very enjoyable and he made it all the better with his stories and insight into the areas we drove by. He was flexible with our travel and brought us to a restaurant near Mystras that was unbelievably good. This trip was worth every penny spent!

HIGHLY recommend the drive to Mystras!! Get out of the city and see the countryside!!!! It was BEAUTFUL!! Sparta was incredible. It was more about the atmosphere than the ruins, just the feeling of walking the ancient ruins was magical. Nikos was amazing. Super prompt, accommodating, full of history and FRIENDLY!! He gave us our time to explore how we wished and used the car ride to fill us in on all things Greece. Vehicle was very comfortable and the ride didn’t feel long with all of the amazing conversation. This trip is the best among the tours we have joined in recent years. The minivan is very comfortable. Our driver Theodore is knowledgeable and informative.
