Crediamo che la vera essenza di Sintra risieda in un trio perfetto: Monumenti, Montagne e Costa. Questo tour riunisce tutti e tre, portandoti attraverso un viaggio panoramico pieno di storia, leggende e paesaggi mozzafiato. La nostra avventura inizia con un viaggio lungo le lussureggianti strade di montagna verso l'iconico Palazzo Pena. Ci fermeremo in punti panoramici speciali dove potrai ammirare viste mozzafiato sui monumenti. Se lo desiderate, potete anche visitare l'interno del palazzo e il parco circostante. Questa parte del tour è facoltativa e autoguidata. Famosa per le qualità salutari delle sue acque, le prime notizie della Fonte da Sabuga risalgono al Medioevo. Qui ci fermeremo per bere un sorso dell'acqua "miracolosa" e ascoltare alcune storie sul Portogallo.
Situata nel cuore storico di Sintra, questa è la residenza reale medievale meglio conservata del Portogallo, con la sua prima costruzione risalente al Medioevo. Ci fermeremo in un punto panoramico da cui potrai vedere il Palazzo.
Costruito dai Mori nell'VIII e IX secolo, fu un importante punto strategico durante la Reconquista e fu preso dalle forze cristiane dopo la caduta di Lisbona nel 1147. Considerata la "corona" di Sintra. Ci fermeremo in alcuni punti panoramici da cui potrai vedere il castello.
Lo Chalet Biester è stato realizzato secondo lo stile architettonico dell'Europa centro-settentrionale, molto in voga nel Portogallo di fine Ottocento, come paradigma anacronico di residenza estiva, a Sintra. È un progetto eclettico. I suoi progettisti hanno sfruttato appieno non solo la sua architettura e la sua decorazione interna, che oscillano tra il romanticismo tardivo e l'art nouveau, ma anche il paesaggio circostante, poiché si trova in un giardino e un rigoglioso parco botanico progettato dal famoso paesaggista Nogré. Ci fermeremo in un punto panoramico da cui potrai vedere lo Chalet Bieter.
Sintra vanta una delle sue attrazioni più rinomate e iconiche, imperdibile non solo nella città ma in tutto il Portogallo. Arroccato in cima alle colline di Sintra, questo luogo occupa un posto speciale nella storia reale del Portogallo, simboleggiando l'apice della monarchia nel paese. Immerso in un vasto parco naturale di 85 ettari (210 acri), questo magnifico e lussureggiante palazzo è stato riconosciuto e celebrato dall'UNESCO come patrimonio dell'umanità. Ci fermeremo in un punto panoramico da cui potrai vedere il Palazzo Pena. L'ingresso nel parco o nel palazzo è facoltativo. La visita non prevede la guida all'interno del palazzo. La guida ti condurrà all'ingresso e ti aspetterà mentre visiti il Palazzo.
Una volta che ci siamo immersi nella ricca storia e nei monumenti maestosi, è tempo di avventurarsi ulteriormente nell'abbraccio della montagna. Preparati ad essere affascinato dalla sua impareggiabile bellezza mentre attraversiamo l'intera gamma, punteggiata da alcune soste scelte con cura per assaporare le viste panoramiche.
Durante il tour della catena montuosa, faremo una breve sosta per ammirare la vista sulla baia di Cascais e sull'Oceano Atlantico con meravigliose spiagge in lontananza.

Ma la nostra avventura non finisce qui. Abbiamo in serbo un'ultima sorpresa: una visita al pittoresco villaggio di Azenhas do Mar. Arroccato su una scogliera, questo tipico villaggio portoghese ci regala "vibrazioni" di Santorini in Grecia. Mentre torniamo a Sintra, prenderemo un percorso diverso, garantendoci un ampio panorama dell'intera catena montuosa di Sintra che abbiamo appena attraversato. Quando è il momento di salutare, hai la possibilità di essere lasciato nel centro storico di Sintra o alla stazione ferroviaria.

If you’re looking for more than just a tour of Sintra, I cannot recommend this experience highly enough it far exceeded my expectation From the moment we met, I felt completely at ease. Chico was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about Sintra. Rather than feeling like a tourist being shown the sights, I felt as though I was spending the day with a friend in his hometown, seeing Sintra through his eyes. Every story, every hidden corner, and every recommendation reflected his love for this beautiful place. If you want an authentic, personal, and memorable experience of Sintra, don’t hesitate to book a tour with Chico. You won’t just leave with wonderful memories, you’ll leave feeling as though you’ve made a new friend.
I visited Sintra this summer with my family. I am typically a more shy person; I tend to stay away from crowds, opt for quieter streets, avoid big cities. Coming to Sintra I had heard of how busy the attractions could be and was worried I might be overwhelmed. My family reached out to Mr. Local Tours to ask them if they could help us plan a tour that avoided the crowds and moved at a slower pace. Diogo was super helpful, and got a plan ready that he sent over for us to review. It took a faster paced one-day tour and broke it down into a slower paced two-day grand tour of the backroads and beauty villages of Sintra. And it was amazing! We saw all the monuments without getting herded like cows in a queue, and managed to truly get a local feel for the area, as Diogo took us to some of his favorite spots. Diogo was so helpful and informative, and really made me feel at home. And he picked us up for the tours in this really cool electric neon blue Citroen suv. It was a great experience and I can’t wait to visit again! Thanks Diogo!
I keep trying to write a longer review and getting pulled away because I’m writing so much. So the bottom line is this: Mr. Local Tours did an amazing job. I would 100% recommend them to anyone coming to Sintra. Diogo was informative, intelligent, well-spoken, and really nice. He was a pleasure to meet and the information he gave us was tailored to our interests and presented well. He made sure our tours were well-thought out for our kids with breaks and time for playground and naps, while still being fun and enjoyable for the adults. And he made sure we really got a truly local experience while still being comfortable. We came to the area knowing nothing of Sintra and we left with it feeling like another home. If you value a thoughtful, knowledgeable and personalized tour of Sintra Portugal this one is for you! Our tour guide Diogo was gracious, and went the extra mile to be sure that our experience was memorable and fun-filled. His responsive texts in advance to arrange transport in a comfortable minivan instead of vintage car, greatly accomodated my tall husband and assured his comfort due to problems walking. This openness to assist us right from the start was very much appreciated and the tour itself was personal and amazing! Diogo was considerate and helpful throughout and we learned so much about the region through his colorful stories and folklore. The narrative was outstanding, complete with historical pictures to give depth and understanding of the rich culture. We laughed, took plenty of pictures, learned a lot and ended with a small keepsake gift of our adventure... a beautiful and generous added touch! I am so very glad that we found the 'Private Local Tour: Palaces & Coast by Classic Car or Jeep' tour company. We truly enjoyed our experience and would not have wanted to tour Sintra any other way!
I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. From the initial booking through to the tour itself, the communication was excellent throughout. Our guide, Francisco, was outstanding. His knowledge of the places we visited and their history was truly impressive. He went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience, always mindful of our comfort and preferences. Travelling between the sights by jeep added a unique element to the tour, and several of the locations we visited are places we would never have discovered on our own. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, made all the more memorable by Francisco’s exceptional guidance.

Loads of fun with our guide Diogo today. Showed us really nice local spots on the coast, then brought us to see sights of the palaces in the mountains. Tons of great stories and interesting facts about the areas from a local. Would recommend 10/10.

Our tour with Diogo was a true highlight of our two weeks in Portugal! Diogo is a Sintra native who knows all of the best places, including secret spots with amazing views! He is very engaging, accommodating of special requests and truly gets to know his guests. It was a huge advantage having a local who grew up and still lives in Sintra show us around the area and share stories, antidotes, and recommendations throughout the day. We enjoyed all of the history and interesting information that Diogo shared with us while he drove us in a super cool vintage convertible all around the mountain and over to the coast. Having Diogo as our guide was like hanging out with a very knowledgeable friend with a great sense of humor!
