Colosseo e Foro Romano. Il Foro era il centro politico, amministrativo e religioso di Roma nel mondo antico. Qui troverete tra le rovine l'Arco di Tito, il Tempio di Antonino e Faustina, il Tempio delle Vestali, e l'Antica casa del Senato. Un tempo il foro era una grande landa desolata, ma con l'invenzione del primo sistema fognario di Roma, fu prosciugato direttamente nel fiume Tevere per far posto ai grandi palazzi e alle basiliche dell'Antica Roma.
Al Foro Romano, camminerai tra le rovine di antichi templi, basiliche ed edifici governativi che un tempo costituivano il cuore della vita politica, religiosa e sociale romana, tra cui il Tempio di Saturno, l'Arco di Tito e la Curia Julia, dove un tempo i senatori discutevano del destino dell'impero.
Mentre cammini per Piazza Venezia, controlla il monumento che porta molti nomi, tra cui Il Vittoriano e la "torta nuziale", perché se ha forma a strati e colore bianco. È stato nominato per il primo re d'Italia come simbolo di unità per il paese e contiene la tomba di soldati sconosciuti e una fiamma eterna che brucia per quelli persi durante la prima guerra mondiale.

Mentre ha visto diversi lavori di ristrutturazione, la struttura principale rimane la stessa, compresa la sua leggendaria cupola con il suo oculo (o occhio del Pantheon) nella parte superiore. Ancora oggi rimane la più grande cupola non supportata del mondo e ogni anno a Pentecoste i petali di rosa vengono fatti cadere attraverso l'oculo per simboleggiare le lingue di fuoco che scendono sul popolo di Cristo.
La Fontana di Trevi è forse una delle fontane più famose al mondo. È stato presentato in molti film e milioni di persone vengono ogni anno per lanciare una moneta e esprimere un desiderio. Roma in realtà dona queste monete in beneficenza, circa 1,4 milioni di euro ogni anno! La fontana risale ai tempi dell'antica Roma, con l'uso del primo acquedotto di Roma, e si dice che il gioco d'azzardo sia un ringraziamento per la sua costruzione perché il Papa ha usato ⅓ del denaro del lotto per finanziare la costruzione della Fontana di Trevi.
Oltre ad essere la casa del Papa, la città del Vaticano ospita anche i Musei Vaticani, la più grande collezione d'arte del mondo con 9 miglia di arte che potrebbe avvolgere le mura del Vaticano 4 volte e mezza! Contiene 54 musei, 1400 stanze, cappelle e gallerie. Oltre alla rinomata Cappella Sistina, i musei espongono anche l'unica opera di Leonardo Da Vinci a Roma, San Girolamo, le Stanze di Raffaello e la Pinoteca, che contiene raccolte dei Papi, tutte risalenti al Medioevo e ambientate in ordine cronologico.
La Cappella Sistina di Michaelangelo è forse il capolavoro più noto dei giorni nostri, con oltre 5 milioni di visitatori all'anno. Era un progetto che l'artista ha intrapreso con riluttanza perché si concentrava sulle sculture, e si lamentava del bilancio fisico che aveva sul suo corpo. Si dice che il disegno della cappella di Papa Sisto IV, sia modellato sul tempio di Salomone nell'Antico Testamento, misurando appena più grande di un campo da basket professionale! Ci sono molti altri affreschi da ammirare qui da altri artisti, tra cui: Domenico Ghirlandaio, Pietro Perugino, Cosimo Roselli e Sandro Botticelli.
Infine, vedrai la più grande basilica del mondo, con segni all'interno della chiesa per garantire che ogni altra basilica si adatterebbe all'interno. Il curioso visitatore viene trattato con la Pietà di Michelangelo nella parte anteriore, 150 mosaici e il baldacchino del Bernini, che è alto 96 piedi e 100.000 libbre di bronzo! Sorprendentemente, c'è solo un vero dipinto nella basilica, e può essere avvistato appeso sopra la Pietà. Molti papi sono sepolti nella chiesa o sono in mostra, ma la maggior parte dei papi sono sepolti sotto la basilica tra cui San Pietro, il primo papa.

Excellent tour with a great mix of history, both within the church and ancient Rome.
We only had one full day to experience Rome and this tour was the perfect option! The tour company coordinated with us in advance on our personalized itinerary and we easily met up with Rahul outside of the Colosseum on the day of the tour. Rahul was super knowledgeable, inquired about our interests, and tailored his commentary on the spot at each location just for us! He hit all of our top destinations, spent the perfect amount of time at each, and then helped us navigate to dinner/hotel afterwards. The next day, he followed up with tailored recommendations for our next tour stop in Florence!

The tour was one of the highlights of my trip. The tour guide was knowledgeable, entertaining, and very patient in answering everyone’s questions. Actually, not 5/5 but I would give this tour a 4.5/5. We did this 7-8 hour private tour with Rahul to see the Vatican and Old Rome. He's been doing this for many years and has perfected this tour in his own way over time. He was also engaged with the kids to understand what everyone desired to get out of this tour, irrespective of age. We started off doing the Vatican City, then Old Rome. I wish it were done the other way due to the afternoon heat since old Rome is mostly outdoors, and it was hot. Given it was a private tour, he first got a sense of where we wanted to spend more time and where we wanted to spend less and planned the tour accordingly. It was a walking tour through all the sites. Make sure you wear comfortable sneakers. He carries illustrative books to give you a sense of what Rome looked like back in the day. We stopped at a self-service cafeteria for a hurried lunch, which could have been done better, in my opinion, and the money paid should have been included. All admissions to the sites were included. Also, transport between Vatican sites and Old Rome should have been included

We spent two full days touring Rome prior to our Mediterranean cruise. We were looking for an English speaking tour guide that could show us the must-see sights that included skip the line VIP attraction tickets, could accommodate 6 people, 1 of which was in a mobility scooter and was a flexible with itinerary. Our family of 7 spent a remarkable day with Rahul viewing the major Rome attractions. As others have noted Rahul's knowledge and insight is first class. I can't imagine anyone better to spend a day with to gain an appreciation and overview of Rome highlights. Our weather was HOT (100 degrees) but Rahul kept us on track and in shade as much as possible. The passion and knowledge he shared with us was unparalleled and highly recommend this tour!
The private tour of Rome and Vatican with Rahul was the best part of our visit. We met with Rahul near the Arch of Constantine and from there it was a wonderful, mesmerizing tour of Rome (Coliseum, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, Campidoglio, Vittoriano, Pantheon, Piazza Navono) and Vatican city museums and St. Peters Basilica. We had already covered the Spanish Steps and Trve Fountain the previous day but I'm sure Rahul would have covered them as well if we had time. Rahul was patient, enthusiastic, and willing to go the extra mile to satisfy his customers (he also doubled as a good photographer for our family pictures). All in a day from 7:30 AM until almost 5 PM with an informational tour full of nuggets of historical information about every single venue. Rahul is a wonderful tour guide and I highly recommend his services.
