NEL 1999; L'isola di Robben è stata registrata nella lista del patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO. L'isola di Robben si trova a 12 chilometri al largo della costa di Città del Capo, in Sud Africa. Per decenni è stata sede di una prigione di massima sicurezza dove i prigionieri politici, padre di Democratie e altri, erano incarcerati durante il sistema dell'apartheid.
Nel maggio 1913 il governo accantonò lo stato di Kirstenbosh per la creazione del giardino botanico nazionale a Kirstenbosh e accettò di contribuire con 1000 opere Annun. la Società Botanica fu costituita il 10 giugno 1913 e tenne la sua assemblea generale il 31 luglio 1913.
Nel 1685, durante una visita annuale al promontorio, Hendrik Adriaan Van Rheede a Drakenstein, concesse i terreni di Groot Constantia a Simon Van der Stel, il primo governatore del promontorio di Buona Speranza. van der Stel costruì la casa e utilizzò il terreno per produrre vino, altra vegetazione da frutto e per l'allevamento del bestiame.
