Our guides were Peter & Carl. We thoroughly enjoyed them & their insights of Montserrat & Barcelona. They were very knowledgeable & you could tell that they enjoyed what they were doing. On the day of our tour it was raining, but Peter & Carl were prepared with umbrellas and modified the tour as needed to keep us dry. Highly recommend them as your guide.

Carl and Peter were amazing guides! They worked as a team to meet our every need including separating the activities to fit physical limitations and abilities. Every ticketed activity was timed perfectly to avoid the largest crowds. Both of them were fountains of knowledge regarding the monastery, the history of the basilica and the Black Virgin. They also had experience staying in the area, hiking and experiencing nature. This personal knowledge added to our understanding and appreciation of the park and its environs. Our hotel pick up and return were right on time. The vehicle was immaculate and cozily comfortable with cushions, blankets and bottled water added in. By the end of the excursion, we had penetrated the barrier between guide and friend.

Our group included my wife and me along with my brother and his wife. My sister in law has mobility issues which I shared with brothers Pete and Carl. Montserrat is an amazing place even if you walk through it on your own. The architecture and the views from this mountain monastery are stunning. But what really made this tour unforgettable is how Pete and Carl brought everything to life! The information they shared and the enthusiasm with which they shared it was awe inspiring. We were transported back in time and could visualize the events they described. No longer was Montserrat simply a monastery, but it felt alive and we could almost hear the work being done to construct it and feel the emotins of those inspired to design it. All the time they were gauging our level of interest and various physical abilities. They adjusted the pace of the tour and its focus for us. At times they would separate us into two groups with one of them with each group. They made sure that my sister-in-law was attended to in a manner that allowed her to get the most from the tour as possible. My wife and I have used a lot of private tours and no one has come close to our experience with Pete and Carl of Day Trips Barcelona. On top of all of this, they are great people... funny engaging, thoughtful, open, experts in their field. You owe it to yourself and the people with you to go on a tour with these brothers! This review is long overdue, but we cannot let one full year go by without giving our rave reviews for Carl and "Day Trips Barcelona." Carl was very knowledgeable about the history of the Black Madonna, Montserrat Abbey and its surrounding mountain range. He was very attentive to all our needs, going with our somewhat slow-pace due to a painful foot/ankle that I twisted a few days before. He customized our private tour so that we can be able to see and do everything we wanted to at my slower pace, getting us very early to the basilica to touch the Black Madonna before the crowd and tour groups arrived; giving us a glimpse of the quiet room where a wooden modern carved features of Jesus follows you everywhere you go with his eyes; giving us important fact about the abbey's courtyard; getting us back inside the basilica to accommodate our wish to hear the L'Escolania Boys' Choir perform at 1:00 p.m; acting as our personal photographer to take great pictures of our trip to Montserrat; etc. . Carl is very friendly and a great conversationalist. From the time he punctually picked us up in front of our hotel, he made us feel welcomed and comfortable. There was never a boring or dull moment with him during our 7-hour tour; and our topics ran the gamut of interesting facts and history about Montserrat, Barcelona, and about each other's family life. With our short time with Carl, we got to know him and his personal/family life, as he took the time to personally get to know each one of us in our group. All in all, he made our trip to Montserrat a memorable and an unforgettable experience. Our guide was very friendly and gave a solid tour of the Monserrat. Very comfortable car and activities planned. Definitely recommend for any groups!

First, let me write about how great the tour guides were. Carl and Peter were absolutely excellent tour guides. They saved the day for us. Our internet connection wasn’t the best in Barcelona and we weren’t able to receive their verification emails with details on where to meet the day before our tour. Typically, they will pick you up at the hotel, but our hotel was in a very narrow alley with a lot of traffic so a day prior they sent an email with a different location that was very clear with pictures and directions, but since our internet wasn't working we weren't able to receive it. My family and I were panicking as each minute was passing and we were lost in Barcelona. Luckily they arrived very early and were looking for us too. Carl walked all the way to our hotel (about a mile) and picked us up. We were so thankful that they went out of their way to make sure we got to go on the tour. Both brothers are very funny and incredibly smart with the history and legends of the area. We loved listening to Peter’s jokes and stories about each area. Peter even took the time to point out areas and facts that many guidebooks don’t mention. I definitely recommend booking a tour through them. They provided the best customer service you could ask for and were very welcoming. They spoke perfect English and many other languages too. They also provided us with many cold water bottles, tissues, and even mints to help my brother with his allergies. I felt very safe throughout the entire tour. Next time I’m in Barcelona, I will be booking these guys immediately for any tour they offer. They were a joy to be around and gave us a tour we will not forget. My only regret is that I didn't get a picture with them, I guess that means I'll have to go again! I would give them 10 stars if I could. Book these guys and you won’t regret it! My review of the actual tour and area is just as excellent. We did the tour later in the afternoon, around 4 pm. It was perfect timing because not many people were there and it felt as if we had the whole place to ourselves. The Montserrat Mountain was truly beautiful. It should be included in the 7 wonders. The views are out of this world. If you are in Barcelona, you must go check it out. First, you go on this beautiful drive up the mountain. Then, you get to ride a funicular, which is basically an elevator train going even further up the mountain. It looks intimidating, but it is the safest way you could go up a mountain and catch some more spectacular views. After we saw the mountain we got to go into the beautiful Basilica and touch the Virgin of Montserrat's pine cones and say a little prayer. We even had the extra treat of listening to the boy's choir, which was breath taking. Again, 10 stars all the way. This was one of the best tours I've ever been on.

Carl is awesome! Very knowledgeable of Barcelona and surrounding areas. Gave us great history on montserrat and got us there early so we had the place all to ourselves before the crowds showed up. He couldn't have been nicer. I would recommend him to anyone. I will definitely be looking him up again if I make it back this way. Thanks again Carl for going above and beyond to make are last day in Barcelona a memorable one.

Peter, our Swish tour guide, was really helpful and allowed us to see a lot of sights at Montserrat. He picked us up at the hotel, bought us coffee and a breakfast roll in Montserrat after we saw the famous Virgin of Montserrat sculpture. We did go up the incline (funicular train) to a higher spot on the mountain and he took us to some of the many good vantage points for pictures. He went with those of us in our party of nine that wanted to accent the steep steps of the mountain to get see better view of the area and talked about locations on the side of the mountain that monks lived during the early 19th century. He helped with picture taking and explained every thing we saw well and treated us as his guests. On the return he offered two drop off points for lunch close to the hotel. I would highly recommend this tour.
