Nella valle del vino di Durbanville sulle colline di Tygerberg visiteremo 4 di queste gemme nascoste per la degustazione e un pranzo opzionale. Visitiamo la tenuta vinicola De Grendel, la tenuta vinicola Durbanville Hills, la tenuta vinicola Diemersdal e la tenuta vinicola Meerendal. Itinerario
Dopo il ritiro presso l'alloggio a Città del Capo, viaggeremo lungo la strada nazionale N1 fino ad alcune delle gemme nascoste di Cape Winelands nella regione vinicola di Durbanville. La nostra prima tappa sarà nella tenuta vinicola De Grendel. Ci sono pochissimi posti dove si possono vedere viste panoramiche come a De Grendel. Guarda le vedute di Table Mountain, la città di Cape Town e la costa in un unico paesaggio. Il Sauvignon Blanc e il Merlot sono due cultivar che sono altamente raccomandate a De Grendel, così come l'Op Die Berg Chardonnay e il Pinot Nero.
La nostra prossima tappa sarà alla tenuta vinicola di Durbanville Hills che mostrerà viste mozzafiato su Robben Island e Table Mountain. La tenuta vinicola di Durbanville Hills vanta viste panoramiche sulle colline di Tygerberg, Robben Island e Table Mountain. Sei generazioni di viticoltori producono vini pregiati nella Tenuta vinicola di Diemersdal da oltre tre secoli. Terminiamo la gita di un giorno a Durbanville Winelands con Meerendal Wine Estate, che produce vini da 300 anni. Nel 1714, quando Christina Stans piantò 60.000 viti sulle dolci colline di Meerendal. Meerendal vanta il vigneto più antico di Durbanville - un blocco di pinotage di vite selvatica che è stato piantato nel 1955. Un vino speciale, l'eredità Block Pinotage, è fatto da queste vecchie viti. Di recente sono stati piantati nuovi vigneti Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay e Pinot Nero. Oggi, i vini Meerendal vengono esportati in oltre dodici paesi in tutto il mondo. Alla fine del nostro tour, gli ospiti verranno lasciati nel loro alloggio a Città del Capo.

We booked this tour for Friday 15/04/22, which was a bank holiday therefore 2 out of the 4 wine estates were closed. We were not told before end otherwise I would have cancelled or reschedule the visit in order to have the full experience I paid for. De Grendel - we were quoted R90 however those prices were changed by the vineyard 2 years ago. At first they didn’t want us to go but see we’re willing and able to pay we ended up having a lovely experience. Diemersdal Wine Estate - was closed due good Friday bank holiday. However that was not informed to us after we paid the tickets. Instead our guide to us Hill Crest Wine Estate which we did not enjoy the wine tasting experience- too relaxed, not information provided during the tasting. Durbanville Hills - we didn’t like the experience. It was too informal, more like a place you would go for a drink rather than having a wine tasting experience. Meerendal wine estate was also closed so our guide took us to the Klein Roosboom Boutique Winery. Interesting experience and better that Hillcrest and Durbanville. However it’s a place where people spend the day and drinks with friends rather than having a wine tour/ tasting experience. Overall I was disappointed I we paid a lot of money for an experience that much the value of the promised tour.
