Visitate la Fortezza di Poienari, il vero Castello Residenziale di Vlad Tepes e percorriamo l'autostrada Transfagarasan, costruita come via militare strategica, è la seconda strada asfaltata più alta della Romania e considerata da alcuni la più drammatica. Guidare sulla Transfagarasan Highway come noto come "la strada per il cielo", "la strada per le nuvole", "la migliore strada di guida del mondo" e anche "Uno spettacolare monumento alla Megalomania del movimento terra"! IMPORTANTE : !!!A causa di alcuni lavori di costruzione sulla strada, il tour potrebbe richiedere più tempo del solito!!! Transfagarasan road è aperta nel 2024 tra il 7 giugno e il 31 ottobre! Quando la strada Transfagarasan è chiusa (1 novembre - 30 giugno) guidiamo fino alla cascata Balea (nessuna visita della fortezza di Poienari e della diga di Vidradu). Se le condizioni meteorologiche lo consentono, prendiamo la funivia fino al lago Balea (extra 20 euro/persona). Visitiamo anche le rovine dell'abbazia cistercense di Carta e lo straordinario monastero Sambata DE Sus.

!!!A causa di alcuni lavori sulla strada, il tour potrebbe richiedere più tempo del solito!!! Guidare sull'autostrada Transfagarasan conosciuta come "la strada verso il cielo", "la strada verso le nuvole", "la migliore strada percorribile al mondo" e persino "uno spettacolare monumento alla megalomania del movimento terra" IMPORTANTE: la strada Transfagarasan è aperta dal 1 luglio al 31 ottobre! Quando la strada Transfagarasan è chiusa (1 novembre - 30 giugno) saliremo alla cascata Balea (nessuna visita alla fortezza di Poienari e alla diga di Vidradu). Se le condizioni meteorologiche lo consentono, saliamo con la funivia fino al Lago Balea (ca. 20 euro in più a persona, compreso anche il biglietto della funivia per la guida). Visitiamo anche le rovine dell'Abbazia Cistercense di Carta e lo straordinario Monastero di Sambata de Sus.
Facciamo un'escursione alla cascata di Balea, la cascata più alta della Romania, alta più di 60 metri.
Balea Lac è un lago glaciale naturale a 2040 m, lungo 360 metri, largo 240 metri e profondo 11 metri.
Si dice che il nome "Fagaras" derivi dalla parola "fagar", una vecchia parola che rappresenta una grande vecchia faggeta. Nell'antichità, la parte inferiore dei Mounatins di Fagaras era ricoperta da boschi di querce. Ora rimane "Dumbrava Vadului", dove, tra le querce, abbiamo i narcisi (Narcissus stellaris), localmente noti come coprine. Nelle montagne di Fagaras c'è il lago galciale "Mioarelor" (2282 m), il lago glaciale più alto dei Carpazi. Nei Monti Fagaras ci sono 8 delle 14 cime dei Carpazi che raggiungono l'altitudine di 2500 m: Moldoveanu (2544 m), Negoiu (2535 m), Coltul Vistei Mari (2527 m), Lespezi (2522 m), Cornu Caltunului (2510 m), Vanatoarea lui Buteanu (2507 m), Hartopu (2506 m) e Dara (2500 m). Qui ci sono oltre 42 cime con un'altitudine compresa tra 2400 e 2500 m.
Fu completato nel 1966 sul fiume Argeș e crea il lago Vidraru. La diga ad arco fu costruita con lo scopo primario di produrre idroelettricità. L'altezza della diga è di 166 metri, la lunghezza dell'arco 305 metri e può contenere 465 milioni di metri cubi di acqua. Il serbatoio ha una lunghezza totale del litorale (perimetro) di 28 km.
Visita la Fortezza di Poienari, il vero castello residenziale di Vlad Tepes. L'accesso alla cittadella di Poienari avviene salendo i 1.480 gradini di cemento. La Fortezza di Poienari è chiusa fino a nuovo avviso.

- La funivia gestisce almeno 10 persone. I turisti hanno la priorità sulle spedizioni di merci. Nessun carico viene trasportato il venerdì, il sabato e la domenica. On the 31st of July 2025, we visited the Bâlea lake waterfalls, the Bâlea Lake, the Vidraru dam… We then rode on the Transfăgărășan road, saw some bears, and went up to visit the Poenari fortress. The trip with Dan was awesome. He was very friendly and helpful. We were only us 2, my boyfriend Julien and me, and our guide, Dan. He respected our pace and let us discover by ourselves. He simply helped us keep track of the time and drove us around. We had some good discussions and information from him. I appreciated how grounded he was, he talked about the positive and the negative points also which was very rewarding. He was flexible for the pick-up and drop-off point as we were only 2. After this trip which took us all day, we already considered Dan as a friend. We loved everything about this tour and we really loved our guide !

Fantastic trip and highly recommend this trip. I travelled alone. Dan, my guide and driver was superb. Collected me on time from my hotel. Safe, professional guide and driver. Conversed well along the way and entertained me with his fabulous singing. Dan bought fresh bread just before we left Braşov and he shared his homemade lunch with me. It’s a long day and I was tired at the end of the day, but Dan remained energetic and motivated. Definitely a very worthwhile trip to make. The highlight of my trip to Romania.

We have seen a lot of things in only one day, lake at 2000 meters about sea level, waterfall, 3 wild bears, a hidroeléctric plant, a monastery and churches, many mountain villages. The guide knows very well the country, and told us a lot about history, politics, religion etc. Nice experience

The fortress was closed. Some roads were under repair resulting in missing some sight seeing spots. The guide did his best to offer substitutes. Viator should have informed customers on these changes. We would have reconsidered the tour had we been info of these problems.

Dan was an excellent tour guid ! Enjoyed his knowledge of the country very much! The bears on the Transfagarasan Road was fantastic! The bears , the waterfalls and all the stops on the way were amazing! I call him Dan the singing tour man ❤️ He has a fabulous voice and we sang many songs! I would definitely recommend him !!!

Views were amazing, we didn't get to see the views from the top as it was foggy but no one can control the weather, views on way down made up for it, loved seeing a couple of bears as an extra. Guide very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to approach. Went back to book a different tour as first one was so amazing.

The tour hosted by Charlie was absolutely amazing! He is a very experienced and friendly guide for the spots we visited and we feel very safe to ride with him. Charlie speaks very well English although we try to speak some basic greetings in Romanian. He is a very fun guy and we really like chatting with him en route. We saw bears along the highway that we all very excited but please remember to respect the nature and wildlife by not feeding and disturbing them. I give it 10/10 if I have to rate the whole trip.

The guide Dan of 10, we did not understand English at all (we already knew it was in English) our guide spoke to us in Spanish, he explained everything to us and the questions we asked him. Thank you Dan for making us spend an unforgettable day (100X100 I recommend taking the excursion. Just commenting (although it is not the topic of the excursion) that I have never seen a country that has so many abandoned dogs, it is a shame to see them.

We had a great day exploring the Transfagarasan Highway with Tibby. It is quite a long day but totally worth it to see the highway and Balea Lake. There were lots of opportunities to stop for photos and enjoy the wonderful scenery. We also stopped at a dam and even saw some bears at the side of the road! This was a special extra treat as obviously not part of the planned tour. We passed the fortress but it was closed so we didn't go up. But we stopped at the bottom of Bran Castle and learnt a bit about the history. We also enjoyed seeing a lot of life in rural Romania as we passed through the countryside. We had a few stops for refreshments along the way and we enjoyed some traditional food for lunch at a buffet style restaurant recommended by Tibby. Tibby was a very safe driver (needed to be on all those hairpin bends) and always ensured we made the most of the day. Thank you Tibby for a great day!
