L'architettura e la disposizione delle successive capitali testimoniano un alto livello di ordine sociale e rango all'interno dell'Impero Khmer. Angkor è quindi un sito importante che esemplifica valori culturali, religiosi e simbolici, oltre a contenere un alto significato architettonico, archeologico e artistico.
Angkor Thom, letteralmente: "Grande Città", contiene molti dei templi e siti antichi imperdibili tra cui il Tempio Bayon, la Terrazza degli Elefanti, la Terrazza del Re Lebbroso, il Tempio Baphoun e molti altri. È una visita imperdibile durante un viaggio a Siem Reap e ai suoi antichi templi.
La caratteristica più distintiva del Bayon è la moltitudine di volti di pietra sereni e sorridenti del Buddha - probabilmente modellati sul volto del re Jayavarman VII - su ogni lato le numerose torri che sporgono dalla terrazza superiore e si raggruppano attorno al suo picco centrale.
Baphuon di Udayadityavarman II (regnò dal 1050 al 1066); e il tempio buddista di Bayon, che era il tempio centrale costruito da Jayavarman VII quando diede alla città, che in seguito fu conosciuta come Angkor Thom, o "Grande Città", la sua forma più o meno definitiva.
Il tempio Ta Nei è un tempio molto piccolo e raramente visitato. La mancanza di altri visitatori è uno dei tanti motivi per cui dovresti visitare questo meraviglioso tempio.
Costruito a partire dal 1186 e originariamente conosciuto come Rajavihara (Monastero del Re), Ta Prohm era un tempio buddista dedicato alla madre di Jayavarman VII. È uno dei pochi templi nella regione di Angkor in cui un'iscrizione fornisce informazioni sui dipendenti e sugli abitanti del tempio.
Banteay Kdei, un imponente monastero buddista della seconda parte del XII secolo, è circondato da quattro mura concentriche. Ciascuno dei suoi quattro ingressi è decorato con garuda, che tengono in alto uno dei temi preferiti di Jayavarman VII: i quattro volti di Avalokiteshvara.
Il tempio Prasat Kravan è un tempio indù del X secolo dedicato a VIshnu. È un tempio relativamente piccolo rispetto ad altri templi nel parco.

Good trip, but could be better described that the guide was not with into the temple, so had to hire a new guide inside. Would have been cheaper to rent tuktuk from the hotel

Soppal and Titiya were great guys and took us where we wanted to go. The temples close at 6pm beware of that! But after 5:40 is free Make sure you cover knees and shoulders or you can’t go in

Well done, I've been to Ankhor Wat. Cross that off the once in a lifetime experience.... Great for those who love a really, really long walk. Altbough once you've seen a temple you have seen them all. Our driver sohpal was really great though, lovely guy, proffesional and accomodating.

Great tuktuk transportation through Angkor Wat. Sophal was very well prepared with towels and lots of water. He recommended a tour guide for $60 but I opted to do my own self paced tour with an audio guide and had an amazing time. Definitely need to book transportation between temples as it is quite a walk between them. Highly recommend this one as it was very accommodating, didn’t rush me and let me take it at my own pace which I really appreciated.
