Qui abbiamo l'opportunità di visitare i migliori mulini a vento in Olanda. Nel XVII secolo lo Zaanse Schans era la più grande area industriale del mondo. Un mulino a vento olandese era fondamentalmente una piccola fabbrica. Ogni mulino a vento è stato costruito su misura per la produzione di vari prodotti come vernice, olio da cucina, carta e legno. Sulla riva del fiume Zaan centinaia di mulini a vento macinavano, battevano, segavano e schiacciavano. I prodotti degli Zaanse Schans venivano esportati in tutto il mondo. La dozzina di mulini a vento sullo Zaanse Schans sono ancora pienamente operativi. In una buona giornata di vento li vedremo girare a tutta velocità. L'ingresso a uno dei mulini a vento è incluso in questo tour.
Il villaggio di Edam si trova su una diga accanto a un grande lago di acqua dolce. Edam è famosa per la produzione di formaggio. È anche un buon posto per provare alcuni frutti di mare olandesi, come le aringhe.
In questo caseificio a conduzione familiare ti dicono tutto ciò che avresti sempre voluto sapere sul formaggio e sulle scarpe di legno. Naturalmente c'è una grande varietà di formaggi da assaggiare così come il lamento alla frutta e i tipici biscotti olandesi e puoi acquistare il tuo formaggio preferito, gli zoccoli e tutti i tipi di souvenir.
Monnickendam è una delle città più antiche dell'Olanda e incredibilmente bella. Attraversiamo il centro storico passando per la vecchia chiesa con il suo incredibile campanile e osserviamo le tipiche navi olandesi nel porto. Monnickendam è un bel posto per pranzare.
Nel centro di Waterland si trova il villaggio di Broek. Sebbene sia a soli quindici minuti di auto da Amsterdam, Broek in Waterland si sente completamente diverso dalla città cosmopolita. La maggior parte delle vecchie case, fattorie e persino la chiesa erano in legno. Gli edifici in pietra erano troppo pesanti per il terreno soffice. Ci sono ancora molte belle grandi case di legno con giardini pieni di fiori. È molto tranquillo e silenzioso e siamo praticamente l'unico tour operator che ci va perché i grandi autobus con i turisti non sono nemmeno i benvenuti.
Waterland è chiamata la zona umida di Amsterdam, con antichi villaggi, campi e centinaia di fossati. È un paesaggio con stretti corsi d'acqua chiamati "sloten", prati, canneti, mucche, pecore, cavalli e uccelli, fattorie e campanili all'orizzonte. Questa zona è per lo più torbiera e anche ricca di laghi. Il paesaggio non diventa più olandese di questo altrove.

L'orario di prelievo è 9:00. Quando vuoi iniziare il tour in un momento diverso sentiti libero di chiedere. Raccogliamo da qualsiasi hotel, indirizzo Airbnb o località a Amsterdam in un raggio di 10 chilometri dal centro della città. Per un pick-up (e / o ritorno) da Schiphol Amsterdam Airport o un'altra località al di fuori del raggio di 6 miglia addebitiamo € 50,- pagamento in contanti il giorno stesso. Questo perché l’aeroporto è a 20 chilometri (12 miglia) dal centro della città, quindi ci sta costando tempo extra e paghiamo oltre 2 euro per litro di benzina. Attenzione: dopo aver effettuato una prenotazione non è possibile aumentare il numero di passeggeri senza costi aggiuntivi!

What better way to visit the windmills than doing it with the ex-boss of windmills! Phillip was very relatable, friendly and informative. He will take you to the country side that is a nice contrast to the busy Amsterdam city Centre. Highly recommended. T

Philip took us to see the real Dutch countryside, complete with stories about its heritage and history. He took us to unique areas that were NOT crowded with tourists as per our request to stay off the beaten path. Philip was both extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. He never rushed us and let us spend as much time in the attractions that interested us the most, including the working saw windmill, the only one of its kind. A great tour and fun day with an excellent guide!

The tour itself was excellent, our tour guide Phillip was very knowledgeable, especially about the windmills, he even arranged for us to go up into a mill that nobdy else was allowed to go in. He even went out of the way to pick up one of our grou that at the airport that did not come on his original flight. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is because he does not seem to like Americans and had a lot of snarky comments about them.

This was a private tour. Just 3 of us and our driver/guide. It was wonderful with a hotel pickup. We learned so much and could make any extra stop we wanted to for photos or more photos. No rush, personal, comfortable, fun, educational and our guide/driver Philippe was so personable and a wealth of knowledge. He made the day extra special and a great experience.
