La Grande Moschea è stata costruita su un sito che occupa 416.000 m2 (4.480.000 piedi quadrati) e il complesso si estende su una superficie di 40.000 m2 (430.000 piedi quadrati), la Grande Moschea è stata inaugurata dal Sultano dell'Oman il 4 maggio 2001, cinque minareti sono stati costruiti intorno ai locali della Moschea il minareto principale (90 metri, 300 piedi) di altezza. La sala di preghiera è di forma quadrata e 74,4 x 74,4 metri (244 x 244 piedi) ha una cupola centrale che si innalza ad un'altezza di 50 metri (160 piedi) dal pavimento, la cupola è abbellita in modo spettacolare dall'interno ed è una grande attrazione turistica in sé, la Musalla principale (sala di preghiera) può contenere oltre 6500 fedeli, il design principale dell'interno è il tappeto di preghiera che copre il pavimento della sala di preghiera, contiene, 1.700.000.000 di nodi, pesa 21 tonnellate e ha impiegato quattro anni per produrre, e riunisce le tradizioni classiche del design persiano Tabriz, Kashan e Isfahan 28 colori in varie tonalità sono stati utilizzati.
Dalla Grande Moschea sulla strada per il mercato del pesce guidiamo attraverso i ministeri e le ambasciate anche attraverso la meravigliosa strada sulla spiaggia, visitiamo il mercato del pesce e delle verdure, le popolazioni locali pagano e vendono pesce fresco e frutti di mare.
Dal mercato del pesce, a breve distanza in auto da Mutrah Souq (Mercato) visita Mutrah Souq, il più grande Souq tradizionale dell'Oman, Mutrah Souq è uno dei mercati più antichi dell'Oman risalente a duecento anni fa, si trova adiacente al porto di Mascate e ha visto un immenso commercio nell'era della vela, essendo strategicamente situato sulla strada per l'India e la Cina, è stato chiamato così per l'oscurità a causa delle bancarelle affollate e viuzze dove i raggi del sole non si infiltrano durante il giorno e gli acquirenti hanno bisogno di lampade per conoscere le loro destinazioni, il nome del mercato è stato tratto specificamente dalla parte che si estende dalla Moschea di Al Lawatiya a Khour Bimba dove il luogo è davvero pieno di negozi e bancarelle e la stretta area di vicoli non permette alla luce del sole di entrare, questo antico mercato oggi dispone di vicoli tortuosi di bancarelle che vendono oggetti d'antiquariato, tessuti tradizionali, spezie aromatiche incenso, Profumo, argento, dolce omanita (Halwa), e prodotti freschi.
Dal souq Mutrah visitiamo il Museo Bait Al Zubair, per una bella esposizione della cultura e della storia dell'Oman e informazioni sulla Famiglia Reale.
Continua il tuo viaggio per visitare il vecchio Muscat e vedere il Palazzo Al Alam, ha una storia di oltre 200 anni, ed è stato costruito sotto la sorveglianza dell'Imam Sultan bin Ahmed, il settimo bisnonno diretto del Sultano Haitham, il palazzo esistente, che ha una facciata d'oro e blu, è stato ricostruito come residenza reale nel 1972, i terreni interni del palazzo rimangono off-limits, ma ai membri del pubblico è permesso fermarsi vicino ai cancelli e scattare fotografie, il Palazzo è utilizzato per funzioni ufficiali e riceve visitatori illustri, quando si visitano le porte principali del Palazzo Al Alam, è diverso da qualsiasi altra capitale che visiterai mai, il palazzo stesso è elegante ma umile nel design, a differenza delle grandiose strutture di altre capitali, elegantemente progettato, presenta molte superfici in marmo altamente lucidato, gli edifici governativi nelle vicinanze sono bianchi, con tetti merlati e balconi in legno nel tradizionale stile omanita, anche se principalmente un palazzo cerimoniale.
Forti Jalali e Mirani, sono forti nel porto della vecchia Mascate, i forti furono costruiti dai portoghesi sotto Filippo I del Portogallo nel 1580 su una precedente fortezza omanita per proteggere il porto dopo che Mascate era stata saccheggiata due volte dalle forze ottomane, cadde alle forze omanite nel 1650, durante le guerre civili tra il 1718 e il 1747, i forti furono catturati due volte dai persiani che erano stati invitati ad assistere uno degli Imam rivali, il forte fu ampiamente ricostruito in seguito.
Da lì visitiamo la Royal Opera House, è maestà Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said Sultan of Oman è sempre stato un fan della musica classica e delle arti, nel 2001, il sultano ha ordinato la costruzione di un teatro dell'opera, ed è stato ufficialmente inaugurato il 12 ottobre 2011, la Royal Opera House riflette l'architettura contemporanea unica dell'Oman, e ha una capacità di ospitare un massimo di 1.100 persone, il complesso della Royal Opera House è composto da un teatro da concerto, auditorium, giardini paesaggistici formali, mercato culturale con vendita al dettaglio, ristoranti di lusso, e un centro d'arte per produzioni musicali, teatrali e operistiche.

Ali is a fantastic guide who speaks excellent English and knows how to explain everything about Muscat, Omani history and culture. It was a very valuable experience. I think I've seen more in half a day than most people have seen in two days. This tour is highly recommended.

We had a half-day private visit with Haroun who proved to be a good guide and a kind person. With us there were our children of 4 and not even a year and the latter was not very cooperative for the duration of the tour but Haroun was never impatient and indeed was really cooperative even helping us in the management. All the stops were beautiful and interesting, I recommend the trip absolutely!

Jaafar was an excellent and knowledgeable guide! We went to the Grand Mosque and observed the wonderful architecture of the buildings.
