Il Nizwa Goat Market è un vivace mercato tradizionale del bestiame che si tiene ogni venerdì mattina nella storica città di Nizwa, situata nella regione di Al Dakhiliyah in Oman. Questo vivace evento settimanale è tecnicamente un'estensione del rinomato Nizwa Souq, ma ha uno scopo unico: gli abitanti dei villaggi locali si riuniscono qui per comprare, vendere e barattare bestiame principalmente capre, pecore e mucche, e occasionalmente, anche un asino o due. Un tempo capitale dell'Oman, Nizwa rimane un cuore culturale della nazione, ricco di eredità e tradizioni. A breve distanza in auto si trova il maestoso Jebel Akhdar (“Montagna Verde”), parte della catena di Al Hajar, che offre splendide viste sulle montagne, fattorie terrazzate e aria fresca di altopiano, un complemento perfetto per la vivace scena del mercato di Nizwa.

Itinerario
Partiamo la mattina presto alle 5:30, guidiamo verso Nizwa, visitiamo prima il mercato del bestiame del venerdì. Venerdì vede l'antica capitale dell'Oman Nizwa prendere vita per il mercato settimanale del bestiame dove agricoltori e commercianti arrivano da lontano come Salalah con i loro animali per barattare e commerciare in uno dei migliori mercati tradizionali del Medio Oriente. Guarda un mercato mediorientale che funziona più o meno allo stesso modo che avrebbe potuto fare per secoli, con pecore, capre e bovini tutti scambiati insieme a miele e datteri locali.
Il prossimo è il grande Nizwa Souq, un mercato locale che offre una varietà di prodotti tra cui gioielli, ceramiche, pesce e carne.
Il prossimo visiteremo la famosa Fortezza di Nizwa. Il forte è un museo che mette in mostra la storia del forte e dell'area circostante. Passeggiando per la fortezza si possono ammirare splendide viste sulla città antica e sulle montagne vicine. Questa imponente fortezza era una base utilizzata dai militari per respingere gli attacchi e gli assedi più duri.

Quindi dopo visita il sistema di irrigazione di Al Kattmyn, uno dei 5 sistemi di irrigazione patrimonio dell'UNESCO.
Da lì saliamo a Jebel Akhdar. Conosciuta anche come la Montagna Verde, Jebel Akhdar ospita molte piantagioni di frutta e roseti. Prenditi il tempo per passeggiare tra le colline e ammirare i panorami della valle. C'è molto che Jebel Akhdar ha da offrire.
Poi c'è Dianna's Viewpoint, il bordo della scogliera qui, con la sua celebre vista panoramica delle terrazze coltivate sottostanti, ha un legame reale. Diana, principessa del Galles, si è goduta questo posto durante una visita reale in Oman con il futuro re britannico nel 1986. A different experience. The goat and cattle market was well worth the early start and we always enjoy fresh food markets. Nizwa Fort and Castle is an interesting place that feels quite authentic. We added a visit to a rose oil farm that was well worth the extra cost. We did not see any other farms at Jabal al Akhdar as the tour was designed to finish at lunch time. Does not include breakfast or lunch.

An absolute MUST DO in your Oman Itinerary! Nasr our endearing and knowledgeable guide took us to the goat market early on, which was an amazing experience. He also took the time to take us to the perfect scenic locations for photos, took very good care of us throughout the trip and showed us the new and historic parts of Nizwa. He then took us through the scenic drive into the mountains where we had a wonderful time and were really awe-inspired by the location's natural beauty. His local knowledge helped us to be treated to Omani Dates, Halwa, Coffee and the world-famous Omani hospitality. It was a very special highlight of our trip.

Overall excellent tour. Our guide Muneer was excellent, friendly, flexible and knowledgeable. From Muscat the ride was long but the vehicle was comfortable and had good air conditioning. The fort and market were great and the views from the mountains were stunning. We had an excellent lunch on the mountains before returning ontime to our ship in Muscat. Highly recommend.

We went to nizwa friday early morning to witness the traditional cattle market selling live goats and it was a wonderful experienced. Said is kind and one of our good guide we had ever had. He gave us insight about his country. Absolutely we highly Recommended this trip.

We went on a friday tour to witness the friday cattle market, witnessing the traditional selling of goats. Then after went to Jebel Akhdar known as the green mountain of Oman. We had a wonderful time, thanks to our excellent guide hamood. Highly recommended to everyone.
