We had an exceptional day touring Sintra, Cascais, and Queluz Palace with Hugo Romano. From start to finish, Hugo was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about sharing the history and culture of Portugal. He even treated us to some great-tasting gelato, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated surprise. He guided us through the magical Quinta da Regaleira, the stunning Pena Palace, the elegant Queluz Palace, and the beautiful seaside town of Cascais. His explanations were engaging and informative, bringing each location to life with fascinating stories and historical context. Hugo also shared local insights that made the experience feel much more personal than a typical tour. He even bought us gelato, which was a thoughtful touch and made the day even more enjoyable. What truly set Hugo apart was his attention to detail, patience, and ability to tailor the day to our interests while keeping everything running smoothly. We never felt rushed and always felt well taken care of. His warm personality and enthusiasm made the entire experience enjoyable and memorable. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal, and we highly recommend Hugo Romano to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, professional, and personable guide. Thank you, Hugo, for an unforgettable day and for helping us create wonderful memories in Portugal!
Hugo was a delight! His communication was great from the moment we booked his tour. There were four of us, two couples. We all found Hugo to be knowledgeable, fun, caring, and flexible. It wasn’t where he took us, it was his interactive style and attention to detail that captured our interest and made us appreciate him so much. Hugo’s passion for sharing parts of his country so effectively was evidenced in his commentary about the beautiful and unique places and things he took us to. If your plans include spending a day in the Lisbon or Nazare areas of Portugal, I highly recommend booking this tour. Thank you, Hugo!

From the high recommendations on Facebook and Trip Advisor to the first communications with Hugo Romano, I knew he was the guide for us! Hugo was personable, funny, passionate and knowledgeable about Portugal and very flexible! We loved every minute of our tour! With his expert guidance we had tickets for Quinta da Regalia early! No crowds, absolutely gorgeous!!! Next he dropped us off at Pena and we roamed the outside with some special Hugo tips! After we drove along the coastline to Boca de Inferno! Absolutely gorgeous to see the beautiful coastline! We had lunch at a delicious local restaurant spot in Cascais. We ended with a highlight! A tour of the National Palace of Queluz. We had the place to ourselves and it was incredible! Hugo gave us a fun and interactive tour! It was fun and interesting and we learned so much about the history of Portugal in a super fun and personal way. Hugo pays attention to many details such as his clean comfortable car, bottled water provided, safe driving and helping us with our entire visit to Portugal. Oh-his cost is sooo reasonable!! We had a great day trip with Hugo! He picked us up in Lisbon and took us to Sintra and walked around with us, showing us some interesting sites and giving some history and even bought us some local pastries to try. Then he took us to Cascais since we wanted to see the beach. He took us to a delicious seafood restaurant on the water and helped us order. He was very helpful in answering all of our questions and really went out of his way to give us a great trip. His car was very comfortable and his rates were very affordable. Highly recommend Hugo!
We had a wonderful time in Lisbon, Sintra and Cascais with Hugo! We booked this tour with him back in Dec 2025 and he had been in constant communication with us since then! He is very quick in his responses to WhatsApp messages and was a pleasure to speak to him on phone calls as well. His charges were very reasonable and he made a special effort to let us know how we could cut costs when necessary. Hugo’s communication skills are excellent and he has a very good command of the English language that was a huge deal for us coming from the US. He was funny and patient throughout our tour, always taking the initiative to help us - this became especially helpful with one of our friends who had difficulty walking and needed walking sticks to get around. And, more importantly, he knows Portugal like the back of his hands. He had very good recommendations on where to eat (and what to avoid!!) and how to get around when we were on our own. He put us in touch with a local Tuk Tuk tour guide who was also wonderful in taking us around Lisbon and Belem that we wouldn’t have been able to do on our own otherwise. Hi
Hugo was the best! Very knowledgeable, friendly, and took good care of my husband, and I and our two friends who joined us. If you’re ever around Lisbon, Hugo is the best tour guide around. Five stars.
Hugo was a fabulous Lisbon tour guide. He was honest, fair, kind, a good driver - and overall a fun companion. He took us to 2 amazing palaces, coordinated a delicious local seafood lunch overlooking the water and was full of thoughtful recommendations for our trip. He even helped arrange a last minute travel adjustment by speaking to the hotel in Portuguese for us. Fernando was so knowledgeable about the sites, easy to communicate with given his excellent English and quick responsiveness on WhatsApp. He was prompt (early) and prepared - he picked us up on time at out meeting point and arranged the whole day schedule. We rode in a clean comfortable car through the most scenic areas and stopped at various hotspots. I cannot say enough good things about Hugo - highly recommend, 5 stars, amazing! I hope I get to meet him again and enjoy his company.
We had the pleasure of joining friends of ours on a private tour of Cintra, Cascais, and the Queluz National Palace & Gardens. Our host for the day was Hugo, and we couldn't have asked for a better guide. Hugo grew up in Cascais where he now lives with his wife and kids. Our journey started in the Alfama district of Lisbon, where we met Hugo at the Fado Museum. Hugo was early, so there was no stress on our part. Just a morning coffee and off we went. We started the tour in the town of Cintra before making our way to the castle. Along the way Hugo provided insights of both Lisbon, the surrounding area, and our destination. What I really enjoyed was Hugo's love of the culture and the food. Our first stop in the town of Cintra was a local bakery for a morning treat. In Cascais Hugo secured us a beach view seat at a fantastic seafood restaurant near the heart of the town. Should you have time, we would highly recommend staying in the town of Cascais. We closed the day at the Palace of Queluz. Here Hugo walked us through the palace, connecting his understanding having grown up in the area, seeing the changes that have taken place over the years. His love of history and attention to detail were enjoyable and informative. We closed the day with Hugo dropping us off at the statue/monument to discovery. Here Hugo suggested with start with the pastery, then work our way around. Here you will see long lines for Pasteis de Belem, which are delicious. However, the neighboring Manteigaria are equally good without the long lines. If you are visiting Lisbon or the surrounding area, I would highly recommend Hugo as a local guide. You will enjoy the time and the experience.
