Misleading meet up point ( which was not the “guide” fault). The guide used a gps to walk us around and looked up and read from Wikipedia a few points of interest. I don’t think she had ever been in downtown Madrid before!! It was both painful and laughable how little she knew where she was and what to show us. We cut the tour short and took off by our self. More vetting of their guides needed.

Many of our Lokafyers know their cities very well and bring real depth, though as you've pointed out, that was not the case here, and the experience you had does not reflect the standard we aim for. Silvano was great. Very personable. Took us all over Madrid. Be prepared to do a lot of walking. Makes you feel very comfortable. Would highly recommend
Yannick was a great guide. Great communication before the tour and customised the walk to suit our interests and physical ability. He was very knowledgable and made us feel like we were old friends very quickly. A great way to acclimatise ourselves with Madrid so we knew what we might like to explore further later.
The tour coordinator gave us the wrong address and pin for the meeting point. We spent in unnecessary taxi fee to get to the given meeting point which was incorrect. After communicating with the tour guide, he went to pick us up and then started the tour. Ricardo, the guide, was very amicable and accommodating. I recommend Ricardo as a guide but the company made us waste time and money.
Our tour guide first said she was running a few minutes late which we said was fine. However, when we went to the location we did not find her. We called her at her cell number that was given to us and she never answered. Then we received an email that she could not find us even though we were right at the location given and described our clothing and she said she was cancelling our tour as she had other tours to do during the day. We have requested a refund and are still waiting to receive it. We also had to then find another tour.
We booked for a 3 hour tour and met our guide Fernand at the appointed time. He was very professional and informative in the course of our outing, charting a course through the city's history from its inception to modern times with a scattering of personal anecdotes and whimsical stories in between. Fernand was very engaging, quite accomplished (he teaches and speaks several languages) and successfully communicated his passion and appreciation for Madrid in the all-too-short period we spent with him. You got the sense that he could easily provide another three hours of information would the tour have been extended for that time. A recommended activity for a first-time or even a multi-time visitor to Madrid.

This is a great way to see Madrid. The operator schedules you with a Local, who contacts you to figure out what you want to see or do during the six hour period of time scheduled. For myself, I wanted an orientation to Madrid and points of interest that I could come back and investigate further. My local guide and I explored several parts of Madrid and I was shown how to navigate public transport in the city. The tour was overall exactly what I wanted with the added benefit of not feeling like I spent all day with a guide but with a friend who lived locally.

We asked our guide to show us Madrid , with its old quarters , its monuments , its markets , its cafes frequented by Madrid . Shopping malls and shopping routes are almost all the same all over the world , we wanted to visit the city of people ,the city of Mr and Madam everyone .And frankly ,we were spoiled .Everything was perfect ,time devoted to each neighborhood,knowledge of history. We started early before the arrival of groups and coaches and avoiding them each time. We left with lots of groceries bought with our guide in genuine shops and grocery stores. We even had friendly addresses for Flamenco dinners and parties. Thanks again everything was perfect. SOUMAYA POMMIER France
