Il Reichstag fu costruito nel 1894 per il primo parlamento tedesco. Dopo la prima guerra mondiale divenne sede del parlamento della Repubblica di Weimar. Poi, nel 1933, poco dopo l'ascesa al potere di Hitler, un incendio distrusse gran parte dell'interno e l'edificio fu chiuso. Hitler non aveva bisogno di un parlamento. Fu solo dopo la riunificazione che l'edificio fu restaurato e il nuovo parlamento tedesco fu pronto a trasferirsi.
La Porta di Brandeburgo potrebbe anche essere il punto di riferimento più famoso di Berlino, no.
Unter den Linden inizia al Palazzo Hohenzollern e termina alla Porta di Brandeburgo. Alcuni degli edifici più antichi di Berlino come l'Opera e il Kronprinzenpalais si trovano qui.

Questo è stato sicuramente il più famoso dei checkpoint del Muro di Berlino. Questo era riservato al personale militare e ai visitatori stranieri, per lo più americani che volevano entrare nella parte orientale della città durante la guerra fredda.
La piazza più bella di Berlino con la cupola tedesca da un lato e la cupola francese dall'altro. Al centro: la Konzerthaus di Schinkel.
Il Duomo di Berlino è la più grande chiesa protestante della Germania modellata su San Pietro. Gli Hohenzollern adoravano qui e molti dei loro familiari, tra cui il re Friedrich Wilhelm I e sua moglie sono sepolti qui.
I cinque musei sull'isola dei musei sono stati riconosciuti Patrimonio dell'Umanità dall'Unesco. Resta dopo il tour e visita il Pergamon e / o il Museo Neues!

We could not have had a more positive experience than with our guide, Winfried. He is a wonderful, warm, affable and highly knowledgable man who has lived a wide and varied life and thus has so much to offer. We had such a great time and learned so much about Berlin. As a long time resident, he was able to weave in his first hand accounts that made it all come to life in such a pleasant and personal manner. It also was wonderful to ride on public busses & trains with him, it not only helped us get around rapidly but demonstrated how easily we could later navigate it ourselves.

Thomas was the most captivating, enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide we’ve ever had in Europe. Definitely book in advance. At the beginning of your trip you will have a nice overview of the city. Audio guide taking and Dutch is possible. Both entrance and audio guide are free.

I had another company set up two private tours in Berlin. They chose A Friend in Berlin and my guide was Josh. I'm a bit remiss in posting a review. I had the tours in mid-September and then got carried away by the rest of my trip. But I enjoyed the tours so much I wanted to make sure that I gave them a five-star rating. Josh was knowledgeable, interesting and interested in my questions and what I wanted to see. The first tour was a Highlights of Berlin scheduled for the day after my arrival. I really felt that I got an excellent baseline of the city, its history and its culture. The second tour piggybacked on the first with a bit more emphasis on WWII. I would highly recommend A Friend in Berlin.
