It was interesting to know more about the war but there were way too many people there at once, we had to wait and the tour guide was very robotic. It was like she was doing a monologue . Which made it hard to stay concentrated. I couldn’t understand her at times. But she was very nice and positive.

We did the Saigon Watertour to the Cu Chi Tunnels, guided by Ms. Moon. It's true — the boat trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels takes only about an hour and is likely much more time-efficient than a bus ride. The downside is that the boat makes quite a bit of noise at high speed. But it does let you see the river along the way. The Cu Chi Tunnels themselves are a tourist hotspot. Fortunately we arrived early (departure at 7:40) so we beat most of the buses. Ms. Moon gave a knowledgeable and friendly explanation — though perhaps somewhat slanted, since she has to follow the official Vietnamese narrative. Every war is terrible for all sides, but in the end, the winner gets to be right. Lunch (included in the trip) was also great. Lastly, they reimbursed our taxis, since we were staying at a hotel outside District 1. In short, a very successful outing.

I have now experienced the Cu Chi Tunnels speedboat tour with Saigon River Tour twice, and both trips were excellent. The first time was in April 2026 on a shared tour, and after such a great experience, I booked a private speedboat again in July 2026 for several business partners and colleagues from my company. On both occasions, our guide was Mr. Danny. He is a wonderful guide—friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. His explanations of the history of the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Vietnam War were balanced, engaging, and easy to understand.
