Regolarmente votato come uno dei villaggi più belli d'Inghilterra, Bourton-on-the-Water ha un fascino unico sia per i visitatori che per i residenti. Conosciuta come la Venezia dei Cotswolds, questo villaggio offre una vasta gamma di attrazioni e negozi, ristoranti e sale da tè, o semplicemente lo spazio per godersi un po 'di tempo tranquillo vicino al fiume Windrush, attraversato dai suoi cinque ponti ad arco. La caratteristica più preziosa di Bourton-on-the-Water è il suo fiume tranquillo. Alimentato da molte sorgenti, la sua fonte è a circa dieci miglia dal villaggio e anche nella siccità del 1976 il flusso continuò. Dove il fiume entra nel centro del paese, sopra le rapide accanto al Vecchio Mulino, le sue acque limpide scorrono sotto una miscellanea di ponti in pietra ad arco oltre il verde con le sue rive di pietra Cotswold.
Bibury - Arrivando a Bibury si può pensare di essere stati trasportati indietro ad un'altra epoca. Il villaggio fu descritto un tempo dal poeta, artista e romanziere britannico William Morris (1834-96) come “il più bel villaggio d’Inghilterra”. Le attrazioni di Bibury includono Arlington Row, una fila di cottage del XVII secolo costruiti in pietra locale accanto al fiume Coln. È una delle zone più fotografate della regione ed è stata scelta come location per il film ‘Stardust’ del 2007. Nelle vicinanze troverete il Bibury Trout Farm e una chiesa sassone. Il fiume Coln scorre tra la strada principale del villaggio e un prato acquatico: insieme ad Arlington Row come sfondo, rende uno degli scenari più pittoreschi che troverete nelle Cotswolds.
I pittoreschi cottage di Arlington Row a Bibury furono costruiti nel 1380 come negozio di lana monastica. Questo fu poi convertito in una fila di casette per tessitori nel XVII secolo. Il tessuto prodotto ad Arlington Row veniva spedito ad Arlington Mill dall'altra parte di Rack Isle. Il panno è stato poi appeso su telai di legno a Rack Isle dopo essere stato sgrassato ad Arlington Mill.
Burford – “La porta delle Cotswolds” Burford è conosciuta come la porta d'accesso ai Cotswolds. La sua High Street digrada dagli alti Wolds, da dove si gode una splendida vista sull'aperta campagna, fino al fiume Windrush circondato da salici nella graziosa valle di Windrush. Scegli di visitare i numerosi piccoli negozi di Burford che offrono formaggio Cotswolds, carni di qualità, torte appena fatte, oggetti d'antiquariato e libri.

Manon and Mentor led us on a wonderfully relaxing journey to the beautifully picturesque Cotswolds. The three stops we made were wonderful for photos, souvenirs, and information. Manon was knowledgeable and organized while Mentor was a very skilled bus driver. It was the perfect escape from busy London on our week-long trip here.
Long trip to get there, but SO worth it! The villages are absolutely stunning, and the people are very friendly.
Manon and Mentor were amazing! Very knowledgeable and the pace of the tour was excellent: not too fast, not too slow. The three villages were picturesque, and the most beautiful scenery you could ever imagine!
The tour was wonderful. We have visited 3 lovely villages. The guide, Simon, and the driver, Gary, were wonderful. Simos gave us a lot of information, regarding the Cotswolds area and its history. His English was very clear even to non-englsh spreakers.
Our tour guide Sandra and driver Gary expertly managed the tour. It worked for us, but if you are a Tolkien (Hobbit) fan, you will not cover that ground on this specific tour.
It was a lovely day in the Cotswolds lead by our amazing guide Ben. If I could give him more than 5 stars I would!! He was witty, full of great history commentary, information and brutally honest!! We had a problem with our bus and his handling of it was great….”Always health and safety” as he states many times throughout the day. Making sure we stayed hydrated and buckled our seatbelts. Even after a long trip back he took the time to give us suggestions and ideas for museums, views of the city, and pub/restaurants. I highly recommend this tour and hope that you also have Ben for your experience!
This trip is an absolute MUST! The beauty of the countryside cannot be beat. Simon was absolutely brilliant guide and Gary was a masterful driver getting us to all locations safely! So worth it
We visited Bilbury, Burton on the Water and Burford. The towns appeared storybook beautiful as was the countryside throughout the area. Our driver was skilled and our guide pleasant. However, I felt the information she provided was limited. I would have liked to have had details on the size of the region, the number of towns, areas of growth, current quarry activity etc.
Lovely 3 stops in the Cotswolds. Glad I did not combine with another stop. Norma was knowledgeable and helpful. Amajit was a good driver, navigating the London traffic and the narrow roads of Cotswolds.
Well organized small group tour of one of the most beautiful areas of England. Our knowledgable tour guide Richard and Patrick our driver made the journey enjoyable. We stopped in 3 villages on this trip - each unique in its own way. Expect to spent 1.5 to 2 hours in each spot - plenty of time to roam around on your own, shop or grab a bit. Richard also did walking tours of the town which you could choose to join or venture out on your own. The villages are crowded on summer weekends but once you get off the main roadways you'll find empty streets and charming homes.
