This is an amazing tour! They tried hard to find the best spot for star gazing and photo shooting. Also they kindly helped us to take spectacular pictures using colorful light. San and Soledad are wonderful guide and driver. I definitely recommend this tour.
What could be more surrealistic than standing on a dark, almost 4000 meter high salt flat somewhere in the middle of nowhere, gazing at the many stars and the Milky Way? This is like embarking on an adventure that you won’t easily forget. Yes, it can be very cold up there, but it’s all worth it! Demetrio was a perfect guide and he really knows astrophotography. The pictures he took of the Milky Way were simply stunning and he gladly shared them. He went all lengths to make this an unforgettable experience and he definitely succeeded in doing so…
It was amazing how the Moon looks illuminating the salt flat, the guide gave us a hot drink appropriate for the night, however we considered that for the photo taking the guide could support himself with a good camera and a good tripod, additional to a person who assists him to do a correct Light painting.
When we book for approx 400 usd we were promised 1. A 4 to 5 hours tour 2. A bottle of wine 3. Telescope Unfortunately we were picked up at 910 pm and dropped off at 1115 pm. Secondly no wine or telescope was provided as promised. Same tour was available for 2 hours for half the price. I feel cheated. Thanks
Amazing. From the first contact Joker Expedition have been beyond helpful and informative and provided a high standard of service. On the night we did our stargazing tour we had Leroy as our guide. He is AMAZING. His local knowledge of Uyuni and La Paz is great, for food, cocktails, shopping, anything you need to know, his enthusiasm is infectious and he's great to have as a guide. Even more importantly when the temperature is below zero and you're trying to get a good photo of the milky way, his photographic skills are invaluable. I would not have the incredible photo I have were it not for Leroy's help. He was incredibly knowledgeable about my camera, the settings required for the best photo, the constellations we could see and he even had a spare tripod to get THE photo. I cannot recommend Joker Expedition and Leroy highly enough.
The original tour was scheduled for the evening but the company was proactive and changed it to the morning due to weather conditions. Allowed us to have a great dawn tour and saw the stars with a funny guide.

This was an expensive tour and I was expecting to receive what was described in INCLUDED as it was supposed to be a 6 hour tour. This included a bottle of water, a bottle of wine, a telescope, and a professional guide. We got to the Salt Flats and as they were filled with rain water, we had to stand to see the stars, the guide didnt even give us some camping chairs to sit down on. I suppose they expected us to stand there for 6 hours. The stars werent that bright as it isnt the best season to see them, however we at least expected some kind of information on the stars as they give information during the day tour. But our guide didnt even know the names of the most basic constellations.

Our guide was kind but he did not even know that water and wine were included in the tour, nor that we had paid for 6 hours of stargazing. He did not have a telescope either.

Basically we paid 180 dollars each person just to be driven to the salt flat at night, to see the stars for 40 minutes and return back to Uyuni completely dissatisfied. Complete waste of money and time as we could have seen these kinds of star with much more comfort and enjoyment from many places. It was unacceptable, that we didnt even recieve the things that we had paid for when we bought the tour. Very disappointed.

We followed our day tour with this night tour. Woscar, our guide was a really cool dude who has done many, many tours. As you can imagine, at night it gets cold and our night was no exception. He brought us to a section of the flats where we watched some constellations set as their star light reflected on the salt flats. SO TOTALLY COOL! He had a laser pointer for outlining the various constellations and I also brought my own. The Milky Way was the longest and brightest I have ever seen it anywhere. Literally, from just about horizon to horizon.

Woscar also had boots for standing in the cold water. Mine were a bit small so you might want to email sizes ahead of your trip. Wine, cheese and snacks under the stars was unforgettable and an anniversary memory for sure. Remember to book your trip around when the moon is NOT around or rises late as we did. A repeat experience if there was one.

I tried posting pictures to both reviews but this site replies with a permissions error. Sorry.
