Just make sure you have your walking shoes on and keep warm!! We just absolutely loved this experience and definitely something we’ve always wanted to do!!!
Amazing experience and amazing people working and would absolutely do this tour again. The instructions and where to go was very well informative
Did not like the audio part of tour. We got messed up in the beginning and could not find a way to rewind or fast fwd so was unable to get back in sync with audio, so did not learn anything about the place other than visually seeing it.
Very good tour - easy boat ride and plenty of time to walk around Alcatraz with audio guide. Recommend for any age group
It was interesting and educational. The ferry ride was short and easy to access. I was happy with our experience.
We bought the tickets through Tripadvisor. We paid $280 for 4 adults and the tickets were for 12.00 PM June 29. We came to pier 33 and we were told to get to the counter and they told us tripadvisor booked us for 1.35 PM instead of 12.00 PM. The confirmation we got from TripAdvisor was 12.00 PM. We were in vacation with a full day planned. The extra 1 hour and 30 minutes extra wait really screwed up our day. However that’s not the only thing that made us so mad. We also found out the ticket only cost $47 each !!! We got ripped off !!! They over charged us $80. It is so embarrassing how they did this. I am so disappointed with TripAdvisor. The tour itself is great. Buy directly from Alcatraz official tour site.

The updating emails were nice to keep everyone in the know. The lines when we arrived were manned and we were told where to go. Easy trip, good audio sections.
Upon arriving at Pier 33 as instructed, I presented the tickets provided by Viator. However, the local operator’s kiosk system could not verify the booking under my name. Instead, the reservation was listed under the name "Tom Tucker". Because I could not provide an ID for Tom Tucker, my party was denied entry and subsequently missed the tour.

After verification, we noticed that you arrived after the departure time. Alcatraz was sold out that day, which meant the team was unable to place you on the next boat. It is very important to arrive 30 minutes before departure to avoid missing the tour.
