We did the full-day Kyoto bike tour, and it was one of the highlights of our month-long trip to Japan. The tour included a fun sushi train lunch and provided a fantastic way to experience Kyoto beyond the usual tourist spots. Our guide, Mayco, was exceptional. Her local knowledge, passion for Kyoto, and friendly personality really made the day special. She shared fascinating insights about the city's history, culture, and hidden gems, making every stop more meaningful. The tour was very well planned, allowing us to conveniently visit several temples while avoiding the larger crowds. Cycling through quiet residential streets, along the river, and through the beautiful Gion district gave us a unique perspective of the city that we would not have experienced on our own. The bikes were comfortable and well maintained, and the pace was relaxed and enjoyable. We particularly appreciated that the route focused on less touristy areas while still covering many of Kyoto's iconic sights. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kyoto. It's the perfect way to explore the city, learn about its culture, and see parts of Kyoto that many visitors miss.
The tour was fantastic, and Juan was so nice! He told interesting stories and shared a lot of Japanese history.
Our cycling tour took us to temples, shrines, Geiko dorms, along rivers and through the back blocks of Kyoto. It was fascinating and educational. Big thanks to Juan, who knows the history and culture of Kyoto exceptionally well and he shared it generously. I highly recommend this tour.
First time in Kyoto it was amazing to be able to see the beautiful city while biking. Juan was knowledgeable and fun.
Great guide very insightful. Have learnt a lot about Kyoto and the places we visited. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see Kyoto’s top sights in one day.
Very nice and fun guide, ideal way to get to know Kyoto and its surroundings! Guide knew an answer to all my questions! Learned a lot and not just about this city!
A little disorganized at the start and guide did not really tell us what we were going to see or ask input on preferences. Saw a lot of interesting shrines and temples with too much detail on the monks and shoguns. Would have liked more history of the buildings themselves. Could have skipped the chasing around to see a geisha. Nice lunch. The day went later than planned. 8 1/2 hrs.
Paul was such a great tour guide, made all the history and local backstory come to life. I went as a solo traveler, there was a family of 5 and another solo traveler so it was a small but intimate group. Paul managed to navigate us really well through the busier street of Kyoto and we still managed to get our photos. Really good value for money, and if you’ve only got one or two days in Kyoto as part of your trip, this is a great way to see all the top spots and get the history rather than looking it up or skipping that part yourself
This was one of the best bike rides in a city I've ever done. The bikes were of good quality (e-bike really not necessary), the route took us to many sights of Kyoto and everywhere we got a clear explanation and we got time to visit. Afternoon we went for a very nice sushi, as much as we could eat! Our guide Mayco has pampered us! Besides guiding, she also taught us a bit about Japan and its people. I can recommend this bike ride and our guide to everyone!!!
The place is difficult to find without google maps but the trip is worth doing. Meyco is very good and extremely helpful.
