I had originally booked the Rome by night with pizza option, however, they asked me if I would mind moving my tour to the following mornings 8am slot. I had no morning plans and so I obliged, getting confirmation that the pizza would be for lunch at the end of the tour instead of for dinner. It was just myself and one other woman on my tour so it felt like a semi private tour, run by the fountain of knowledge that is Gio! She is so passionate about the history of her city. I was nervous I wouldn’t remember the information but she truly made it so memorable and engaging! What a star!! The tour itself covers some of Romes most iconic sites as well as some you might not think to visit yourself! To be honest I arrived in Rome the day before and was finding it all quite overwhelming. But this tour puts the whole place together for you, makes the city feel familiar and took away any of the intimidation I felt by giving me knowledge about each place. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough, I would actually encourage them to make it twice as long, I could have carried on for hours! Safe to say next time I am in Rome I am booking another tour with Starbike!! Wishing all the staff well - Kaya
Dear Kaya, It was a great pleasure for us having you in our tour led by Gio. We truly appreciate your kind, beautiful and detailed feedback, this helps our future guests a lot to make their decision. And we're glad you had this amazing experience with us. Can't wait to see you here again. Wish you all the best
We booked this tour because it was advertised as a VR bike tour, but once the tour had already started we were told they hadn’t used the VR component for over a year. That was extremely disappointing, as it wasn’t the experience we had paid for. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting information about Rome’s history and landmarks. However, we didn’t feel the tour was managed with enough attention to safety. The guide would often ride ahead without checking that everyone was ready or together, which was concerning, especially when navigating Rome’s busy streets. We travelled as a family of four. The bikes were adequate, but not as comfortable or well-maintained as those provided by another company we used for an Appian Way e-bike tour earlier in the week. The most frustrating part was the lack of customer service. We felt the tour had been mis-sold, but the company showed little interest in acknowledging the issue or finding a reasonable solution. Overall, while the guide’s knowledge was a highlight, the misleading advertising, safety concerns, and poor response from the company mean we wouldn’t recommend this tour.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We would like to clarify a few points. You booked your tour while the VR feature was still advertised. As soon as we became aware of the issue, we apologized and issued you a refund for the missing VR experience. Regarding the bicycles, comparing city bikes used on a Rome Highlights Tour with the full-suspension mountain e-bikes with telesopic seat post used on the Appian Way Tour is not an equal comparison. They are designed for completely different routes and riding conditions. Similarly, Rome’s historic city center is naturally much busier than the Appian Way, which is largely traffic-free. This is an inherent difference between the two experiences, not a safety issue specific to our tour. Finally, we appreciate that you acknowledged the guide’s knowledge and professionalism. Considering the refund provided and the overall quality of the guided experience, we believe your review does not fully reflect the service you received.
Travelling as a family of 10 (including three kids aged 11, 9 and 2), we had a fantastic time on the Rome Highlights Bike Tour with Roma STARBIKE. It started with a few wobbles as our 2-year-old nephew, who was riding in a child seat on the back of his Dad's bike, wasn't too happy at first. Thankfully, once we got moving, everything settled down and the rest of the tour was smooth sailing! The route was a great way to see so many of Rome's iconic sights, including the Colosseum, the Pantheon and many more, while learning about the city's history along the way. The e-bikes were definitely appreciated, especially on Rome's hills, making the ride comfortable for everyone in our group. Bike tours are one of our favourite ways to explore a new city, and this one certainly didn't disappoint. It was a fun, family-friendly experience and a great way to take in the highlights of Rome. We'd happily recommend it to anyone visiting the city.
Great way to see the city in the morning. Easy bike ride. Amazing guide - friendly and knowledgable. We would book this again.
Well, it was perfect day, weather-wise which made it that much more fun, but this tour would be great at any time of the year. We had the good fortune of having Gio as our guide. Gio is extremely knowledgeable and is actually an archeology professor in the making. Any questions we had were easily answered. It was a very fun ride and I look forward to biking the Appian Way next time.
Alex the tour guide was the best!! Need to do this excursion in Rome! Best scenery away from the center of Rome.
Best way to tour in Rome and discover amazing stories about this great city. Our guide Alex was fantastic and made us feel at home.
Sadaf was great! The staff was all so efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. Sadaf was especially thoughtful and kept checking back to make sure her pace was good. She adjusted quickly and was very knowledgeable about all the info she shared during the trips and for stuff to do after the tour.
This was a great way to see old Rome and get us familiar with our surroundings on our first day in the city. The biking is easy with lots of stops and the guide Sadaf, gave us lots of useful info. Our guide was kind enough to add a couple extra stops at the Trevor fountain and Spanish steps. Highly recommended.
Thank you to Sadaf and Ava. This tour was the highlight of our stay in Rome! I was apprehensive beforehand at the thought of my daughter (13) riding a bike through Rome, but I need not have worried. Sadaf was a perfect guide - calm, reassuring and confident. Ava was also wonderful, helping to make sure that everyone was okay. The three hours flew by, so much so that my husband wanted to do it again :) Book this tour. You won’t regret it!
