Yes, do it! Such a great experience.

This was the best thing I did while visiting Kenya for work. Gideon was a fantastic guide and lovely to chat with. The bike ride was awesome, 24 km of mostly small little trails through villages and mellow roads in between. I bike a lot at home but am by no means a superstar athlete - the route was totally fine for me. The kids were all so sweet and funny, and bringing some sweets to share with them was a pleasure. I would highly recommend this if you want to see some real Kenyan life that is out of the busy city. And I recommend you take your time! Don't race through it.

Would highly recommend!...

Would highly recommend! Be prepared to sweat, but it’s worth it! It’s a wonderful way to get to see local life in Kenya.

great way to see the local area!

This bike trip was the best part of our Mombasa trip. there are different routes to choose from according to your interest and fitness level. We chose the village tour and it was nothing short of amazing. Wouldn't have been able to see the things we saw without our local guide. Julian even allowed us to visit a local school (I'm a teacher) and meet the staff and students. We stopped for snacks and drinks along the way and everyone was so friendly, it was clear our guides were familiar with the area. The only negative was the bikes, they were old and squeaky and my breaks barely worked, I was full squeezing them the entire way down a hill. Seems like the owner is putting in minimal capital trying to make the most money, but overall it was a great experience.

You will burn calories

I had this excursion on 2/23/24 on a Sunday. I had julius as a tour guide and he was fantastic. He brought me to all of the side villages and he biked at a moderate pace. The scenery was amazing (posting photos with review). He also explained the site's and what was where and why it was built etc. He was very informative. I was covered in sweat and dust but it was so worth it. The bike selection was good and my bike was rma newer bike with front and back suspension (which you will need). The hill inclines were super crazy and julius was just biking up that like it was nothing. Yo he built different. Some I had to hop off and walk. The good thing was that he also hopped off and walked and talked and kept me company as we(I) went up the steep hills. The area is also very safe and everyone in the village is very friendly. I said hi to all the children going to church and adults passing by. I 100% would recommend this as an excursion to my peoples and would 100% do this again. Again YOU WILL BURN CALORIES

Bicycle tour

It was amazing. Getting to know the villages, the beautiful creek, see locals and talk to kids. We also went past different villages, saw different schools. Very interesting to get an idea of how people live. It is tiring though, it is sort of like mountain biking at some parts but it is all very worth it. The guides are also very nice and explained a lot about Kenya overall.

Great way to start the morning and see some things in Mombasa you'd otherwise miss

I did this by myself with just one guide, Julius, about a week ago. Total time on the bike was about 3 hours, and we were moving at a pretty good pace the whole time. The route took us through a few different villages and there was a ton of stuff to see - mangroves, fish traps, baobabs, cashew trees, small quarries, creeks/streams, livestock, some wildlife, a solar farm & a power plant, and a bunch of other stuff that I'm probably forgetting. Julius was awesome and answered all of the questions I peppered him with along the way. I'd echo other folks & make sure you're comfortable with the bike up front. There were a few frames to choose from. I found the brakes were weak on the ones I tested, but we were able to tighten them up & test them quickly before we got going (side note - make sure rear brake are solid b/c there are a couple steep downhill sections and a solid rear brake will help make sure you don't flip over the handle bars). I had 0 issues mid-ride, but as others noted, the guide does bring tools along the way & I felt confident they'd be able to fix things up on the fly. Couple other things: - This is probably common sense for any tropical/equatorial destination but I would definitely recommend wearing sun block. There were a few sunny, shadeless stretches and if you're pale like me, you'll get absolutely roasted once the UV index climbs. - Bottle of water was provided, and we stopped for a snack/drink a couple times along the way. I didn't bring any food/drink of my own & I was fine. - The steep slopes were relatively short. You can probably dismount & walk the bike up/down as needed if this is problematic (ex you're not the strongest rider and/or doing this during the wet season where unpaved roads presumably get slippery) - Someone left a review a long time ago suggesting this was exploitative or expositional. I want to say I did *not* get this vibe at *all*, and to me this felt like just a normal ride through a neighborhood (though with some excitement from kids about a mzungu passing through)

Amazing cylcing experience

With a group of colleagues, we had an amazing cycling experience with this organization. The expert guides cycled with us through Kenyan villages. We also enjoyed breathtaking views and even rode through a mangrove forest. The bikes were of fairly good quality. If anything happened along the way or you simply wanted a different adjustment, the guides had tools with them to assist. Conclusion: a fantastic experience that I can recommend to everyone!
