Questo tour ti porta attraverso il Parco Regionale della Via Appia Antica, una delle più grandi aree urbane protette d'Europa. Sarete immersi nella storia dell'Antica Via Appia, una strada romana del IV secolo a.C., lunga oltre 500 km che collegava Roma a Brindisi, nel sud dell'Italia. Non solo una strada militare ma una strada che nasconde un sacco di segreti, belle ville e siti storici. Passerete per il Circo di Massenzio, il Mausoleo di Cecilia Metella, per citarne alcuni. Le Catacombe di San Callisto fanno parte del cosiddetto complesso callistano, un’area di circa 30 ettari compresa tra la via Appia Antica, la via Ardeatina e la via delle Sette Chiese, a Roma, che ospita varie aree funerarie e catacombe Pranzo/Aperitivo Una meritatissima pausa accanto alla Via Appia vi aspetta per gustare un gustoso pranzo al mattino o un aperitivo nel pomeriggio.

Un'imponente porta meridionale alla città di Roma. La Porta di San Sebastiano, parte delle Mura Aureliane costruite intorno al 275 d.C., segna anche l’inizio della storica Via Appia Antica. Lasciati incantare dalla sua bellezza e scopri i numerosi graffiti medievali che testimoniano il flusso di pellegrini nel corso dei secoli.
Visita al complesso funerario ufficiale della Chiesa di Roma. Il più grande cimitero sotterraneo della città con corridoi che raggiungono una lunghezza di circa 20km. Le catacombe di San Callisto, luogo sacro risalente al II secolo a.C., prendono il nome dal diacono Callisto I. Qui furono sepolti più di 50 martiri e 16 papi e mezzo milione di cristiani.
Il Parco della Caffarella, oggi parte integrante del Parco Regionale dell’Appia Antica, è una delle aree verdi più grandi non solo di Roma ma anche d’Europa. È un tesoro ricco di storia nascosto tra i suoi sentieri e boschetti dove si possono vedere i resti di antichi edifici.
Lasciatevi incantare da questo luogo sacro che racconta la storia d’amore tra la Ninfa Egeria e il secondo Re di Roma Numa Pompilio, dove Egeria, appresa la morte del suo amato, scoppiò in lacrime dal dolore, dando vita a una sorgente.
Questo maestoso mausoleo è una tomba pagana dedicata a Cecilia Metella, risalente al I secolo a.C. Incorporato nel Castrum Caetani, rimane il mausoleo meglio conservato sulla via Appia Antica. Qui si possono apprezzare anche i resti della casa medievale della ricca famiglia Caetani e la chiesa di San Nicola di cui rimangono in piedi solo le mura perimetrali
All’ombra della leggendaria via Appia è prevista una sosta per il pranzo. Potrete gustare specialità Italiane nel ristorante. Nota : solo nel tour di 5 ore Nel pomeriggio ci sarà un gustoso aperitivo al posto del pranzo
Riprendiamo il tour in e-bike lungo questa immensa area verde attraversata anticamente e ancora oggi visibile, dalla Via Latina, la strada più antica di Roma. Crocevia della rete idrica dell’Antica Roma, qui è possibile ammirare la grandiosità dell’ingegneria romana attraverso i resti di alcuni acquedotti in alcuni punti ben conservati, e sorprendentemente alcuni ancora in funzione.
Al quinto miglio della Via Appia si possono ammirare i resti della maestosa Villa dei Quintili appartenuta ai fratelli Sesto Quintilio Condiano e Massimo Valerio, consoli nel II secolo d.C., uccisi da Commodo I che confiscò la villa rendendola proprietà imperiale.
Costruite dall'imperatore omonimo, le Terme di Caracalla sono state per circa un secolo le più grandi terme pubbliche mai costruite, e oggi si conserva gran parte della loro struttura. Un ramo dell'Aqua Marcia portava l'acqua alle terme attraverso l'acquedotto antoniniano. Piccoli resti si possono ammirare presso la Porta di San Sebastiano.
Situato sulla via Appia Antica, il Circo di Massenzio rappresenta il miglior esempio di circo romano sopravvissuto fino ai giorni nostri. Lasciatevi trasportare nel passato circondati dai resti dell’antica Roma. La spina, ancora visibile, ospitava l'obelisco Agonale, spostato durante il Rinascimento nella Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi in Piazza Navona.

Wonderful experience getting out of the city into the countryside and open air. Enjoyed learning about some of the area history along the way and touring the catacombs. A memorable experience.
We did the 5hr Deluxe Appian Way Bike Tour with Catacombs Visit & Lunch with Trevor as our tour guide. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time riding along the Appian Way at a leisurely pace on well equiped e-bikes. Trevor was a very knowledgeable and engaging travel guide who took time to explain the various points of interest and answered all questions asked. We are so glad we took the time to do the Appian Way - it showcased another side of Rome that you just won’t see walking the inner city streets. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to see Rome beyond the city centric attractions - many thanks to Trevor and Roma Starbike for a truly amazing experience.

Me and my family went together, along with five others in our group. Our guide, Sale, was amazing! Very informative, and answered lots and lots of questions. Such a good tour - learnt a lot about Rome that you wouldn’t otherwise. The stops were well timed and everyone was very accommodating! Highly recommend!!!

, July 5th, my partner Mark and I had the deluxe five hour bike ride with Catacombs. Nazeer was our guide and he was wonderful. He helped me when I got stuck, was patient about it and was very interesting to listen to as well. He was very intelligent and knowledgeable about Rome history. He was truly a pleasure to bike with. Ride was fascinating, visit to Catacombs as well.
First and foremost our guide Alex was philosophical, phenomenal, caring, compassionate and great at what he does. This tour is not for those thinking it’s a leisurely tour to see some spectacular sites. You will earn your sites through hard…read this again….hard pedaling with slight assist from the E-bike. Your terrain will be bumpy, dirty, rocky and if you’re doing this in the summer bring lots of sunscreen and water! I highly recommend this tour if you want to see outside the city and see some incredible history.

This e-bike tour was one of my favorite things I did the whole time I was in Rome. To be able to ride the trail of the Appian way and experience the countryside gave you the chance to see Rome in a different way. We got a tour of the catacombs, ability to see the aquaducts, understand the history of this trail and ride through woods to see some historical ponds. We also stopped for lunch which was delicious. My husband and I were in a group of 10 on a tour with Ricardo where he often would explain things about the trail and its history to the group. However, he made sure to take time individually with each person which made the tour even more special. He also took away the stress of trying to navigate the Appian Way. Highly recommend this group and specifically Ricardo!
This was a fantastic tour of Rome outside of Rome. We toured the Appian way and saw so much history. Our tour guide Mara was awesome! The only down side to this was the condition of the bikes. One of the riders had an issue with the seat, two had issues with gears skipping under load, one had a e bike dead battery shortly after leaving and the guide swapped bikes with her, another had a pedal come loose about halfway through. As I said, the guide and the tour were excellent but the bike shop needs to perform some maintenance on these bikes.
Fantastic 25 km bike tour! The 5 hours flew by, and it was engaging and informative for both adults and our 11- and 15-year-old kids. We loved escaping the hustle and bustle of Rome within minutes and learning about its ancient history along the way. Chris B was a knowledgeable, kind, and funny guide who made the experience even better. We'd happily come back and do another tour!
