Questo è il nostro tour di punta e può gettare le basi per ulteriori esplorazioni del paese. L'esperienza è destinata a chiunque sia interessato ad ampliare la propria conoscenza del conflitto tra israeliani e palestinesi, ad andare un po' oltre il discorso "loro e noi" e ad imparare da una guida che ha una conoscenza approfondita delle questioni come oltre che una prospettiva alternativa.

Itinerario
La prima fase del tour ci porta nella Città Vecchia, dove riceverai un briefing dettagliato, imparando circa cento anni di storia dal tardo periodo ottomano ai giorni nostri. Riceverai anche una breve introduzione all'occupazione israeliana e agli sforzi di insediamento nella Città Vecchia e nel vicino Holy Basin. Il tour mattutino si concentrerà sulla centralità della Città Vecchia di Gerusalemme rispetto alle tre religioni monoteiste mentre esploriamo alcune delle icone visibili dell'occupazione israeliana, inclusi gli insediamenti ebraici nel quartiere cristiano e nel quartiere musulmano, con la discussione della loro storia e delle loro implicazioni.
Quindi faremo un tour a piedi della Città Vecchia, entrando alla Porta di Damasco attraverso i vivaci mercati e imparando la divisione della città mentre visiteremo anche alcuni dei siti. Ci fermeremo in vari punti panoramici impressionanti che dipingono un quadro chiaro delle nette differenze tra Gerusalemme est e ovest comprese le moderne torri di uffici e autostrade a ovest della città e strade non asfaltate e asini cavalcati a est. Avrai la possibilità di vedere le splendide viste panoramiche sulla città vecchia di Gerusalemme. La parte successiva del nostro tour ci porta lungo la strada della "linea di giunzione" che divide Gerusalemme est e ovest, passando per aree che furono conquistate dalle forze ebraiche nella guerra del 1948 e ai cui residenti palestinesi fu concesso principalmente lo status di rifugiato dalle Nazioni Unite. Vedrai insediamenti israeliani sia di quel periodo, sia colonie più moderne.
Successivamente, potrai osservare da vicino il famigerato Muro della Cisgiordania - a volte chiamato Barriera di Separazione - che divide non solo arabi ed ebrei ma, in molti luoghi, le comunità palestinesi. Questo è anche un momento opportuno per conoscere le ragioni per cui il muro è stato costruito, come ha impedito il terrorismo e la sorveglianza dei residenti palestinesi.
L'ultima tappa offre ai visitatori la possibilità di vedere il villaggio palestinese di Anata, circondato dal Muro. Scoprirai Ma'aleh Adumim, uno dei più grandi insediamenti della Cisgiordania, e potremmo visitare gli avamposti periferici della città e conoscere lo sfollamento del beduino Jahalin locale. Alcuni dei punti panoramici includono viste accattivanti del deserto della Giudea e della zona di pianificazione "E1" che sarà riempita con nuovi quartieri di insediamenti e hotel turistici.

Anyone interested in the political situation should take this tour or another offered by the green olive collective. Rather than just sightseeing, you'll learn about the ideological conflict from the perspective of Palestinian nationalism.
Excellent tour with one of the best guides we've ever had. Malkon was incredibly smart, engaging and open. He gave us a great tour that was a perfect mix of historical facts and personal and general opinions, always making sure to point out which was which. His analysis and perspective were well-informed and clearly presented a viewpoint without trying to push it down our throats. This was my first visit to Palestine, and although I thought I knew much about live under occupation, I learned so much more about the reality Palestinians have to face every day through this tour. All the guides were very passionate about their work and did an amazing job. The families I lived and spent time with were just very kind and lovely people, and I hope I can return soon. This was our first time visiting Israel and the Old City. We met up with our guide Yehav, an incredibly knowledgeable and articulate interpreter of the history, politics and geography of Palestine, Israel, and the West Bank over the last 100 years. After orientation using a series of historical maps, we set off through Damascus Gate and on to various key outlooks. There is no substitute for viewing "the facts on the ground." Yehav presented the history and current situation objectively and with evidence. We also enjoyed an excellent lunch at a "no name" restaurant in the Muslim Quarter.

We took both the 4 hour Greater Jerusalem tour and the 3 hour Old City Jerusalem tour (some people take them on the same day but we broke it up over two days). The experience was life changing. Our tour guide Rotem was incredibly knowledgeable and gracious. We learned so much history and now have a greatly expanded understanding of the situation in the area and how it impacts the daily life of its residents. We saw sacred sites, we saw refugee camps, we met residents, and so much more. And yes, Rotem always made sure we had bathroom breaks, and water breaks, and the bus (for the Greater Jerusalem portion) was very clean and had an excellent driver. Green Olive is fantastic. I can't recommend them enough.
