Really worth the cost to be escorted directly inside rather than waiting in line for hours! Both the booking agent and the tour guide inside the the Vatican/Sistene made the visit informational in spite of the overwhelming amount of art, relics, and architecture displayed at this site.
You changed the time of our tour without checking with us. It was not a convenient time and we had to cut our time in Vatican short as we were leaving Rome shortly after noon. Thus we had to go on our own and did not have a guided tour. Our tickets cost only 25 euros each and have saved them if u need further proof. It was viator that made the time change and should reimburse us the difference which is $125 each item will never book or recommend viatour. Although the representative at travel office was very nice and did the best he could viator should not have changed our confirmed reservation
This was a gong show - tour didn’t start on time, then excuses about start times. Then it appeared they bought tickets at the gate. Tour was rushed and guide was barely audible and rushed through artifacts. So disappointing for the money.
We are truly sorry to hear about this feedback. However, we would like to clarify that your original tour at 5:00 PM took place as scheduled. Prior to the tour, we had informed the you that — since this was the last tour of the day — there could be significant security delays at the Vatican entrance, which are entirely beyond any operator’s control. To help avoid such issues, we proactively offered an earlier 4:30 PM entry with escorted assistance, but the you did not respond to confirm. At the Vatican Museums, all visitors — even skip-the-line ticket holders — must pass through security, and occasional delays may occur depending on crowd volume. This is likely what the you experienced as a “late start.” The guided tour was conducted as planned and within the museum’s allotted time frame. Our guide followed the official route and ensured all guests completed the visit before closing time. We regret any misunderstanding or inconvenience caused, but we did everything possible from our side to provide a smooth and professional experience under challenging conditions.
We had reserved a small group tour which mean 8-12 people. The day before I briefly saw a message saying the tour time had changed but I was never able to find that message again, checking my Viator app the original time was still there. We showed up at the original time told our tour was 1 ½ hours later due to guide being ill. We were then added to another group making our group over 20 people, not what we paid for. I asked for a refund at least to not be charged for a small group tour and to pay on,y the rate for the large group. I was told I needed to contact Viator since they had our payment. They told me I had to do this on,one after the tour. When the tour was finished I went to the Viator site and I found no way to contact them directly. We were told by the guide that when we reached the museum we would be a small group which never happened. This was all very frustrating. The tour itself was a huge disappointment and not the fault of Viator. It was so packed with people that you couldn’t even look at stuff, we were so busy trying to keep up with our guide and not lose him that we could not enjoy the displays. The headphones they provided were large and clunky and were constantly falling off our ears, if you look up like everything is in the Sistine chapel and much of what is in the Vatican museum they would fall off. You are better off going on your own and not paying the high prices for a guided tour the only good thing we got for this tour was skip the line, very disappointing!
We are truly sorry for the frustration you experienced during your tour. We always strive to provide the best experience and sincerely regret any inconvenience. We would like to clarify a few points: The guide’s illness was unexpected. To ensure all guests could still enjoy the tour, we combined two groups. This decision was made for everyone’s well-being and was beyond our control. Regarding the refund, we promptly issued a substantial refund once your concern was raised, which was accepted without any objection. We were surprised to see the negative review despite this resolution. Crowds inside the Vatican Museum are beyond our control. We always do our best to make the visit enjoyable, but some aspects, like museum crowding, cannot be changed. We genuinely regret that your experience did not meet expectations, and we appreciate your understanding of the exceptional circumstances involved.
Travel guide was amazing , really explained the vast history , loved it ! Life changing to see so much religious history in person !
Wonderful Tour, our guide was knowledgeable and witty. There was a bit of a walk until the Sistine chapel, it was worth it!
Booked Vatican Museum tickets through this Viator seller and had a great experience! Everything was smooth, the seller was responsive, and the guide was amazing—super knowledgeable and engaging. Skipping the line saved us so much time. Highly recommend!
Witnessed an unforgettable day in April 2025. Exploring the beauty of Vatican Museum and sistine Chapel with some enthusiastic people, the tour guy was awesome. Also the sellers were so responsible about the timing
