Magnificent experience enhanced by great weather.
The guides and drivers were excellent and very accommodating. We traveled in a group and they made sure everyone had everything they needed and were taken care of.
Great tour and wonderful Tour guide and Driver . The tour is long and you get very tired but worthy , amazing experience
Great experience, I enjoyed the views, the walk in the black sand lake, the climbing of Mount Bromo and the view of the active crater, 100% would recommand
Be prepared as it’s a long way & the weather is obviously not guaranteed-it was cloudy for us so we only caught glimpses(make sure you’re looking at the correct volcanoe!)It’s also worth noting there are a lot of jeeps going up so the fumes are pretty bad-take a mask maybe. Mt Bromo itself it’s amazing. You can walk to the top of the crater(or take a horse half way then just walk up the rest). You can hear & see it roaring away. Our guides were great guys, spoke good English & had a sense of humour.
Mount Bromo sunrise is widely considered a "must-do" experience for any visitor to East Java, Indonesia. The panoramic view of the volcanic landscape, with the sun's first light illuminating the "Sea of Sand" and the other volcanoes in the caldera, is truly breathtaking and often described as an otherworldly experience. Here is a review based on common traveler experiences: The Overall Experience The sunrise experience is a mix of a challenging early morning journey and an incredibly rewarding view. Most people start their journey around 2:00-3:00 AM to reach a viewpoint before sunrise. The ride in a jeep or on a motorbike across the cold, dark "Sea of Sand" is an adventure in itself. Once at the viewpoint, you'll join a crowd of other eager travelers, sipping hot coffee or tea from local vendors as you wait for the magic to begin. The moment the sun peeks over the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow on the volcanic cones of Bromo and Batok, is the highlight. The light and shadow play across the landscape creates a stunning visual spectacle that makes the early wake-up call and the cold temperatures entirely worth it. Best Time to Visit Dry Season (May to October): This is the most popular time to visit. You have the highest chance of clear skies and an unobstructed view of the sunrise. However, this is also peak tourist season, so expect larger crowds, especially in July and August. Shoulder Months (March-April or September-October): These months offer a good balance of decent weather and fewer crowds. Rainy Season (November to March): While the park is open, the views can be compromised by rain, fog, and cloudy skies. The trails can also be muddy and slippery. Key Viewing Spots There are several viewpoints to choose from, each offering a slightly different perspective. The most popular spots are: Mount Penanjakan 1 (Penanjakan Point): This is the highest and most famous viewpoint. It provides the most comprehensive view of the entire caldera, including Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and Mount Semeru in the background. It is also the most crowded. King Kong Hill: Located below Penanjakan 1, this viewpoint is a popular alternative that offers a similarly spectacular view but is often slightly less crowded. Bukit Cinta (Love Hill): This spot provides a great view with a slightly different angle and is known for its romantic backstory among the local Tengger people. Mentigen Hill: A great option if you're staying in Cemoro Lawang and want to avoid a jeep tour, as it's easily accessible on foot. It offers a quieter, more intimate sunrise experience. Practical Tips and Things to Know Temperatures: It gets very cold before and during sunrise, with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 10°C, and feeling even colder with the wind. The temperature rises quickly after the sun is up, so dressing in layers is crucial. What to Wear: Layers: A base layer (like thermals), a warm sweater or fleece, and a windproof or waterproof jacket. Accessories: A beanie or hat, gloves, and a scarf are highly recommended. Footwear: Sturdy hiking boots or shoes are best, as the terrain is rocky and sandy. The Journey: Most tours include a jeep ride to the viewpoint and then down to the "Sea of Sand" to hike to the Bromo crater. The hike to the crater rim is relatively short and manageable, but the final ascent involves a lot of steps. Be prepared for a very early start and limited sleep. Crowds: Be ready for crowds, especially at the main viewpoints during the dry season and on weekends. To get a good spot, it's essential to arrive early. Dust and Ash: The "Sea of Sand" can be very dusty, especially during the dry season. A mask or scarf to cover your face is a good idea to protect against the volcanic ash. In conclusion, a Mount Bromo sunrise is an unforgettable experience. Despite the early start and the cold, the panoramic view of the volcanic landscape bathed in the morning light is a spectacle that will stay with you long after you've left.
The pick up was 1 hr earlier than scheduled. While couple of ladies are late by over 15mins and we're jammed in the van with the A/C turned so low we are sweating at some points both ways. Our guide Lucky only leads and he just do his job, that's all. The breakfast is average for the fried rice and miserable for the fried noodle.
Booked last minute and they were super accomodating. Adit was a great guide, very knowledgeable and helpful. We unfortunately didn't see the sunrise because of cloud, but Adit did everything he could to get us the best chance, and it was still a great day checking out Bromo.
Lucky is an awesome guide who shares his thoughts and views as well during the entire tour. We have ample time to acclimatise to the altitude and temperature changes from the viewing point to the crater. A very well paced tour that accommodates each of us to signed up for the trip. I’m blessed to have him as my guide for the Bromo Sunrise Trip.
Nothing great about the "sunrise" part. However, having the opportunity to see volcanic eruption in real life is "out of this world"! = awesome. That's what we go to witness when we were up on Bromo mountain overlooking 2 live volcanoes
