Not as described. We felt as unsafe and the driver was not able to speak english. Lack of knowledge and poor communication lead to miserable journey .

Furthermore, we have no record of any customer reporting that a driver did not know the route or was unable to operate the tour. This was a very enjoyable day trip to Kandy and a great way to see many key sights in one day. Our driver, Mr. Lal, was excellent as he made us feel very safe on the road and handled all ticket purchases smoothly, which made the experience stress-free. The planned tour itinerary included a wide range of stops: the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Royal Botanic Gardens (Peradeniya), Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden, Udawattakele Forest Reserve, Bahirawakanda Vihara Buddha Statue, Kandy viewpoint, New Ranweli Spice Garden, Oak Ray Handcrafted Wood Carvings, Kandy Lake, and Kandy City Center. I really enjoyed all the places we visited. A highlight for me was the spice garden, where we were given a guided tour explaining how different plants are used for remedies. We were treated to a delicious spice tea and even a short massage. We ended up buying a few items and received a good discount, possibly because we visited during the Sinhalese New Year. The Kandy viewpoint offered beautiful scenery, and you can get another better view by climbing to the top of the Bahirawakanda Buddha Statue. The visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic was also very interesting - we learned that it was once a royal palace before becoming a temple and that it houses what is believed to be the left tooth of Gautama Buddha, making it an important site for Buddhists. As expected, modest dress is required: shoulders and knees covered, and shoes and hats removed. We mostly drove through the city centre rather than exploring on foot due to time constraints and shop closing hours, but it didn’t feel like we missed too much. At Oak Ray Handcrafted Wood Carvings, we were shown different types of wood and how natural colouring is achieved, followed by time to browse their impressive handmade pieces. Lunch was included, with a budget of LKR 2,500 per person, which was sufficient to cover food and drinks depending on the restaurant you choose. The only downside was that we couldn’t visit the Udawattakele Forest Reserve because it was closed. Even our driver attempted to contact them without success, and it appeared to have been closed for some time based on online information. I contacted the tour operator (Sigiritrip Tours) to inform them and ask about a possible partial refund (since it would have been covered by the fee we paid), and although my message was read, I did not receive a response. If you’re considering this tour, I would strongly recommend confirming in advance (via email or WhatsApp) that all listed stops are actually open and accessible. Overall, aside from this issue, it was a pleasant and well-organised day trip. The drive from Colombo took about three hours each way, but the experience was worth it.
It was a really long day, ended up being 13 hours due to traffic, but such a fun day out. Our driver was Lal and he adapted the itinerary to suit our young family. This meant substituting the Royal Botanical Gardens with the Elephant Sanctuary. Herbal Centre and Tea Factory was also heavily marked up for tourists, but was well worth a visit and lots of information given. Very happy with my soursop tea. A few tips, ensure you where a t shirt or something to cover your shoulders and pants to cover your knees. Otherwise you have to buy a heavily marked up sarong. There is a rental option at the door in case your tour guide doesn't tell you this. Overall a great (but long) day out for the family.
What an amazing day with Vidu. A first class tour guide and a first class driver. We did exactly what we wanted when we wanted. He was patient and amazing company. The booking process was easy and communication was perfect. Overal one of the best tours in Sri Lanka
This experience will go down as the most memorable thing I have ever done. Our expectations were exceded throughout. For a short trip to Sri Lanka we were able to cross several items off the itinerary in one day. You will NOT be disappointed. The biggest reason for that is all thanks to Vidhu. He by far is the most genuine, sweetest, considerate person I have ever encountered. He made my dream come true of encountering an elephant. He went above and beyond providing me a birthday cake to sing happy birthday whilst having our elephant encounter. He provided us with awesome pit stops along the way with fresh coconut water, we even got to encounter with porcupines(how cool)! He didn't stop there, he even helped coordinate our next trip out of Kandy and provided recommendations for other items on my itinerary. This man deserves a medal. 5 stars for this whole experience. If I can ever come back to Sri Lanka I would choose this all over again.
It was a very remarkable trip from colombo to kandy. We visited many good places and sites on the way and our driver Mr Shamind helped us alot during this trip to guid our journey and helped us to find good foods of our taste. Overall it was very memorable trip for us.
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip, there were lots of opportunities to purchase souvenirs and we saw monkeys and even a tortoise which we were not expecting. Our driver Shaminda, was very friendly and expertly navigated the local traffic. Highly recommended.
Just back from a day trip to Kandy with Vidu. Had an amazing time. Absolutely appreciate how accomodative Vidu is especially when you are travelling with your family and a 4 year old kid. He is very patient, waits until you have a good look at the places and offers to take pictures for you which is wonderful. He does not hurry the trip and keeps it very flexible based on your interest. My daughter wanted to play in the beach and he was gracious to stop on the way just to let her play in the water & waited very patiently until she was done. Basolutely loved everything about the trip and would reccomend to everyone traveling to Srilanka! Thank you Vidu :)
Vidoo was so considerate and thoughtful, meeting us with leis at the cruise terminal gate. On the way to kandy, he stopped to buy us a king coconut and red bananas which were great. He bought us flowers which were the national flower to give as an offering at the temple of the relic tooth. Vidoo met us at the gate of the botanical gardens and then went to get the car. We also drove around kandy lake and went to a tea factory and spice garden. We ate at nice buffet that had a beautiful view of a river. Vidoo is a skillful driver and we highly recommend him.
